nude lip advice

hey all! i have a few nude shades of lipstick in mind and hope you all can help me out.

i am an NW25, brown hair & eyes, asian/caucasian (if any of this matters lol)

anyway, i like:
myth
hug me
blankety
kinda sexy

please mention liner & lipglasses to wear over it if you have ideas.. i really appreciate it! thanks!

Myth is very pale and its Satin. It is very matte and I find it to be drying. I love to use it under lipglass to downplay my pigmented lips

If I just want the nude look I'll pick up Nothingless (McQueen collection), Oyster Girl or any of my Plushglasses as they dont really have any colour (i.e. Nice Buzz)

If you want something that will not wash you out too much I think Blankety is beautiful. It is my fave nude lippy

I love, love, love Myth.

I use different l/g depending if I want a little color pay of our not. C-thru, florabunce, underage (my favorite), and Illicit.

I use Oak if I want a cool look or I use subculture for a warm look.

I like nude lips but some nudes don't have enough yellow or pink undertones for hapa skin. I use some of MAC's deeper nudes, but generally I like NARS Belle De Jour, Honolulu Honey and Barberella and the Laquer-Chelsea Girls-they are all great nudes for hapa complexions. Blankety is way too chalky. I'm sure your Myth looks better on you than your blankey. If you get around to NM's, try on some NARS Belle De Jour, its beautiful and really popular in Hawaii. It also doesn't melt at room temperature in Hawaii and fall out of its bullet. That can be a big deal, love Vincent Longo and MAC lipsticks, but they melt....Givenchy has a great nude-Only Beige.

Could you compare Belle De Jour to Honolulu Honey? I looked for swatches but couldn't find any. Thanks, helpful thread.

Lipstick by NARS Cosmetics - Sheer Lipstick, Satin Lipstick, Semi-matte Lipstick

I don't have a scanner or camera anymore, but the site swatches are good if you run over them with your cursor and then look right, a real swatch appears. In semi matte, there is Honolulu Honey and Blonde Venus-Blonde Venus is warmer than Honolulu Honey. Belle de Jour is a bit paler, Promiscuous is more sheer and a gold nude, Barbarella is a pinker nude. Honolulu Honey has more golden brown than the others, yet it doesn't look like concealor. Blonde Venus has the thickest coverage.

ku'uipo, i will mos def check out the NARS shades you mentioned when i hit up sephora. i tried the trick where you use concealer on your lips but it's way too pale!

I really like both Honolulu Honey and Blonde Venus ... do they both suit everyone universally or is one more for cool or warm skintones? I am light olive skinned, I wear hiseido makeup in shade O40 if that helps, brunette with highlights and green/hazel eyes.

Blonde Venus has more peach than Honolulu Honey. They both look good on skin with olive or gold undertones. I have never seen a person with pink undertones wear them, but they do not look like concealor.

My nude MAC choices ar Velvet Teddy Kinda Sexy, Cosmo, Capricious, Mystic, Viva Glam2, Spirit, Double Shot, DelRio, and Half Half, and Taupe. None of these are luster-they are all creme-Luster is way too dilute. If you want dilute, get a nude or peachy lip plumper gloss and run it over your blotted lipstick, and your lips will be totally out there.

The thing with buying a nude lipstick if you are hapa (half asian/white/Hawaiian mix) is that many colours that look good on non hapa people look not good on hapa people. Blankety looks like I had been drinking Maalox straight from the bottle and didn't wipe my lips. Hapa people need a little brown, alittle peach or a little coral thrown in the nude or it looks like they took a very fair person's undereye concealor and used it on their lips-a very post-mortem look.

c-thru over myth is really nice if you want that nuder than nude lip. if you want a little colour though, try underage over it.
