So I'm new to the MAC line (obviously aware of it, just finally decided to splurge and officially purchase some products). Our Belk finally got a MAC counter/area (that's probably not the proper term, sorry), and it's the closest one in a two hour drive radius, so it's basically new for EVERYONE in my small town. Any way, one girl matched me NW25 in studio sculpt, because I want a heavier coverage. I used it the next day and found it to be too dewy, as I like a more matte finish because I have oily skin and it was a tad too dark. The same girl today, after I said I wanted to exchange it, matched me NW20 in Studio Fix fluid, and said it should be more matte, and it seems to be okay, I've yet to test it to see how matte it stays so if anyone can comment on that, I'd be much obliged. Also, I already have a NC15 concealer pot. But when I put it under my eyebrows, as a highlighter (I enjoy the effect), it looks a little grayish. I overheard one of the other consultants saying to a customer that if you're warm, you need to stick with warm, cool to cool, blah blah blah. I'm not saying the NC15 looks bad, but as I said, a bit grayish (or maybe chalky?). I'm scared that the NW concealer will be turn out to look TOO pink or yellow. And as my NC15 is basically brand new because I've never used it, it'll be a shame to buy a whole new one. (I don't know where the box or receipt is for it.) Any hints, tips, suggestions, dupes, general advisements would be much appreciated as this MAC counter is fairly new, and I honestly don't want to sound offensive or rude, but none of the consultants really sounded like they had a clue about what they were telling people, nor even being confident in what they were saying in general. The girl also did a small eyebrow tutorial for me yesterday with Lingering, because I usually use a powder, and when I asked her, very nicely, if she would just remind me on one eyebrow the technique she did yesterday for me again today, just so I feel confident I get the idea, she very sarcastically, and only slightly jokingly, said, "Didn't I show you this yesterday? Okay, fine, I'll do just ONE brow." I felt very disheartened and a little offended that she acted like it was such a bother to her to do a simple brow pencil tutorial that took two minutes at MOST, and also while there were literally NO other clients at the time. I also had planned to buy the $18 pencil, but after that, I was just really turned off in general of my experience, and was ready to switch my foundation and leave. Idk, I just didn't get a trustworthy vibe from anyone, but this honestly isn't to bash anyone, I just wanted to share my first time experience, and to send out a call for help about the concealer/(possible) matte finish debacle from a newbie. Thanks!
