Oh My!! The scare of the day

Anybody that know me in real life knows that besides my husband and immediate family, the most important things to me are my animals. Since we moved from Atlanta and haven't closed on our new house yet, we've been staying with my in-laws. Dear God, KEEP ME STRONG FOR THE NEXT MONTH!!! I have 4 cats total, 3 of which are indoor/outdoor. Babydude, our "kitten" (he's 2 years old now), cannot be trusted outdoors as he's not quite as bright as the other ones, LOL.

I lost him today. Searched everywhere and everything. Called my husband at work and absolutely bawling. I was so scared he'd gotten out. My in-laws are looking at me like I'm a friggin nutcase and give me permission to search every nook and cranny of the house. This is no small feat... they are some rather bizarre people.. I'm talkin' like secret doors and rooms bizarre.

Anyhow... to get to the point... 12 hours of searching and the 100th time of being in their bedroom, I go look again... no Babydude... about 10 minutes ago I decide to do just a little last check to give myself peace of mind and THERE'S THE FRIGGIN CAT!!! He has got like the best morning face "I've been asleep ALL DAMN DAY" look on his face and for some reason, he was wet... I haven't figured that out yet.

Yes, I was so mad at him! BUT, he gave me that "I love you Mommy now can I eat please" look and I melted, picked him up and kissed him... Yeah, he has me trained well. Maybe he's not so dumb afterall

Sorry it was so long but

OMG, I am so glad that it ended well, and that he is safe. I feel the same way about animals and would have been in full freak-out mode as well. Thank goodness.

LOL He's so awesome! One of my Dad's employees found him on the edge of the parking lot at the woods in his office building. He was very little. I took him home to "find someone to take him." I had him for about 3 days and was feeding him when I decided to take him to the vet. Apparently he was so little that he couldn't quite see and didn't even know how to potty on his own, so around 2.5-3 weeks old. We were destined to be together!! And our other cats love him to death. I think he keeps them young since he VERY high energy.

Oh and.. the name. We couldn't think of a name and we were watching "Sifl-n-Olly" and they had a skit and song with a "Babydude" so that's what we called him until we thought of a name. By that point he would only respond to Babydude or KittenKat.

Aw I wouldv'e flipped too, especially cause we had to declaw my kitty and she'd be easy pickin's on the street! Luckily she never wants to run outside, cause I usually take her for walks anyway. Lol I have a turtle hatchling and one day I came home from work and I bugged out cause I thought he got out of his tank (his huge 10 gallon tank with a super heavy light fixture on top of it, mind you). Of course he was in there, but...damn that was a scary 30 seconds before I realized it!

Do you have her on a harness and leash? We tried that and it didn't work too well for us LOL!

It always is scary. I worry about the weirdest things with them with good reason. Mom accidentally killed my cat Chubbs when I was 5. He climbed in the dryer and she didn't notice him. Then we had Tripod... for obvious reasons. And SpazzCat (he's 8 years old now) is in the same predicament is Tripod due to a my old neighbor's Rottweiler getting out of the fence. But he's a survivor!! And one of the coolest animals I've ever had!

Same thing happened to me,my cat Sneakers is indoor cat only, and one day I could not find her anywhere,so I saw the window open and thought she got out.I searched the whole friggin neighborhood crying and didn't find her.Later I was standing out on the porch scared and I look over, and there she was in the window.I almost died.

I'm so glad nothing happened to your beautiful cat. I love love love cats- we had a bunch growing up (3 still living, but with my parents now) and I ask my husband everyday if we can get one (or two or three), but we're just not situated right now where we can have one.

Anyways I'm so glad nothing happened, and I know you must've been so nervous!

Oh, I'd have done the same exact thing! Mine are having Caturday, which entails us taking their collars off so they're nekkid

, so that means we are constantly doing a kitty headcount to make sure one didn't sneak out. Whew, I'm glad you found him! I love that name, too...Babydude, lol!

Thank you for the well wishes everyone. I found out where he was since he escaped again and I followed his ass! In my in-law's master bathroom, there is a garden tub. As stated in my earlier post, they like trapdoors and hidden passageways like paranoid people. In my father-in-law's closet, he has a trapdoor that goes under the tub. Apparently he stores his coin collection and valuables and my mother-in-law's opal collection since they can't be stored in a safety deposit box because of a lack of humidity. He should've just buried it all in the backyard! Yeah, they're strange folks!

im glad u found Babydude *adorable name*

I would really try to search and make sure that there are no secret spots or like, secret ways they can get outside and back into the house, because it sounds like he snuck into somewhere and got wet and then came back in the house?

I love cats so much but im very allergic

I'm so glad that Babydude is ok! My husband's cat got out on our wedding day (my fault) and I was one crazed woman in a tiara and veil! I yelled so loud at him that he turned himself around and walked himself right back in the door. He now knows to behave or "Behold the Fury of The Monarch!!!!"

LOL - Behold the Fury of The Monarch...
Venture Brothers?

I couldn't even imagine that. I would have cancelled or postponed until the cat was back.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Venture Brothers! The whole time I was looking for the cat I was thinking..." Can I really make it all through the wedding and then go right to Mexico on our honeymoon knowing his cat is gone? Can I get away with pretending I didn't know? Can I get away with blaming it on the cat sitter?" I have to admit that as much as I love cats, his cat is such an asshole! We have since made friends but at the point when he got out I wouldn't have missed him. I just couldn't hurt my husband like that. He loves the little shit. I don't wanna make a grown man cry
