Oily!

Hi, I have just recently started using MAC studiofix and i LOVE it. My only problem is that I have a super oily face. t looks nice when it's matte but when i start oiling it's not so cute, and i get oily pretty fast (even after blotting). WHat should I do, any suggestions? The moisturizer i use is cetaphil cream and I am African American with dark skin, if that helps anything.

Its possible that your moisturizer is too heavy, you described it as a cream which leads me to believe it's very rich. Also, Studio Fix is not oil free, contrary to popular belief, so it's not going to keep your skin very matte, even though it is a powder. I would use an oil controlling moisturizer, or dust blot powder on the skin before foundation.

Have you tried Oil Control Lotion for your moisturizer? I use it on customers who have oily skin, then set their foundation with a loose blot powder.

I usually use MAC's oil control lotion before using the Studio Fix foundation. I let the oil control lotion set for about 3 minutes before putting on the foundation. So far it works great for me. I've only started using the oil control lotion for about 2 weeks. HTH.

I have SUPER oily skin. I use MAC Oil Control Lotion or Becca Mattifying Primer before applying my make up. After I applying my make up, I set my make up with Ben Nye Final Seal. This stuff works wonders. When I use it, I can go all day without needing to blot (no, I'm serious). You can get it at a theater supply store and it costs about $6. It's the best thing that I've found so far.

Do you mean blotting with a napkin or something? I just bought the MAC Blot powder and it is fabulous, I don't understand why I hadn't bought this earlier!

This topic was my lasted blog article! I suggest MAC Matte, Smashbox anti-shine and Tarte little blot book. I'm too lazy to re-write all the info there, just click on my blog link in my siggy. Blot Powder by MAC is a temporary fix, it doesnt last all day, just fyi. If you partner it with a anti shine gel, it will have much better results.

Blot away, blot away, blot away!!! Oil controllers and extra powdering can actually clog your pores, aggravating your skin causing it to produce even more oil. All you can really do is blot oil with a tissue every hour or so and add a dash of loose transluscent powder for shine. This keeps your makeup fresh and not look caked on from reapplying heavy powder. Also, be glad you have oily skin. This will definitely pay off in your later years when this "dreaded" oil will maintain your skin's elasticity and needed moisture, preventing premature wrinkles/aging.

I saw that on the Tyra Banks Show a few weeks ago. Does it really work? Tyra recommended it but she didn't say that she does it.

I usually dust a little bit of Bare Minerals:Mineral Veil on my face before I apply my foundation as a base and apply a little bit again after my foundation. My face is oil free for hours, it works for me.
