So when I was at the Pro Store today I talked to one of the MAs and he told me that he bought some GENUINE e/s pots from MAC in Asia that had the mirror and applicator in!

So what's going on...are those special Asia versions or what?

Well he may not have been on the up and up,.. about half of the gals at my local counter and store are not well versed in the old products. (One of them didnt know what I was talking about when I asked for an empty 15 pro palette) I would have asked if he got them through e-bay or actually from MAC. Did he specify??

i had bought a few of them on ebay. they are FAKE! they dont stay on long. the ebayer told me they are limited from asia also, but i beleive they are fake cause i used one next to a real mac shadow and the fake one faded fast and the mac shadow was still on my lid.

I just got a fake MAC e/s with the mirror from a Yahoo! Singapore seller. The big tip-off was that the label on the back said Prismique, but, it was a green color. I believe that it's really a light beige, correct? Anyway, I asked the seller where she got it. She said a friend bought it for her in Germany. I posted the pics on Cozycot.com where a thread had started about fake MAC e/s on Yahoo!. Someone said that they had seen MAC cosmetics being sold on the streets of Bangkok.

As far as MAC being made in Asia, I do know that we have many Asian exclusives. I heard from a MAC MA here in Singapore that the Lustrevisions came about from a collaboration with people here in Singapore. I'm not sure if it's true, although I do know that they were released here in Asia 1st.

Anyway, now that I know that people are selling these fakes, I will have to ask more questions or just not buy from anywhere but the MAC counters. I've already reported any remaining fakes listed on Yahoo! They were obvious since the seller said that they were new in box, but, couldn't provide a color name.

M·A·C has never made eye shadows with mirrors and applicators in the base for any market - Asian, African, European, Australasian or American. They are totally fake. There's a lot of money to be made selling fake cosmetics. One UK eBayer has sold over £8,000 worth of fake M·A·C. Even M·A·C staff sometimes have difficulty distinguishing fake products from the real thing. All M·A·C eye shadow pots from at least the last ten years are embossed somewhere with the M·A·C name. The fakes aren't.

I was scammed very badly once (to the likes of US$60!) by one of these auctioneers.

But that said, the MAC fakes are actually quite easy to spot- at least in real life. That's why I always take pictures of my items together with my boxes (and sometimes the labels) if I can.

I feel very upset that these people ruin it for other sellers and swappers in Asia who actually have genuine MAC.

Some are, but of course not all. I just took a quick look at my MAC collection and MAC is made in these countries (this list is by no means exhaustive): Italy, Germany, USA, Canada, China, Ireland...

which is pretty much true to MAC's spirit of it being for all races. :p
