What campus are u thinking of going to (out of curiosity - im in laf., and went there for esthetics). Not to sure where slidell is and just wondering of your closer to covington or here.
As far as going to aveda for esthetics, while they may have gotten better (although from what i hear a lot, i doubt it), they should stick to what they know, and thats hair. Pretty sure most anyone in the industry, or who has ever used their skin care can vouch for this.
As far as taking esthetics for to have a background in MU, that wont do u any more good than going for hair. I think we spent like one week on makeup, and it was rediculous. Infact going for hair may even be better as you will know how to do both, which in starting off freelancing, is a big plus - if u also have a talent for hair. Almost like being a "double-threat". Ive been working (doin pretty well for myself, if i do say so myself) as a makeup artist for quite some time now, and have learned that unless you are trying to work in a salon doing makeup, the licence it self is somewhat unneciccary (sp?).
Sure its a huge plus to know about skin, but if your dedicated enough, go from what u learn there, and strive to learn more on your own, as i said, they dont do skin so well at aveda.
Also, watch out for the skincare products there, as they will tell u at orientation, "your skin will purge itself while using the products," your skin should never purge. Aveda uses too many natural and essential oils in their skincare range, and adversly effects your skin.
Not tryin to bring u down or anything, just tryin to let u know some valuble info (imo at least) from someone who has been there and done that so to speak. At any rate, do what makes u happy, and whats right 4 u, not anyone else!
Dont hesitate to ask me anything about the school or course there, ide be glad to help.
