Old old old MAC.

This is kind of a two-parter question.

My Aunt has some really old pigment-like powder from back in the 80s when MAC first started. She keeps calling it shimmer for some reason. And, she has it in white, gold, and black. I haven't seen it, but she told me it's in the old style packaging, with the old logo. I'm assuming it's in the same kind of jars as the pigment is nowadays.

Does pigment ever go bad? Would you use pigment from the early/mid 80s? Did MAC even have pigment in the 80s? Would anyone know what product she's talking about? I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to bug her to get some samples of it and try it out. She's a performer, so she takes really good care of her stuff.. but still.. it's almost as old as I am.. hahha..

Thanks in advance for any help..

i'm not sure, i guess you should really take a closeclose look at it before you use it. i've used some shadows that were 15 years old or so and didnt get any infections or anything like that. my mom told me it was probably better to not use them but she wasn't like 'ohmygahhh youre gonna die if you use those throw them out now!' i think if the powders look okay they should be okay...

i hope someone else can help you out more

Sorry I posted to this earlier this am and it is gone now. Pigments usually stay good for it seems like ever,.. but here is the catch,.. If she actually dips her brush into the pigments,.. or water,.. or emollient products have come in contact with it then it would not be safe to use. If the pigment was always dispensed out of the container before using,.. what is left in the container would still be uncontaminated. Also you should find out what they are,.. they may be worth some big $$ to collectors!! HTH
