Online Job Applications?

Last night while looking through job listings for my area, I found out that Ulta was hiring. I went to their website to check out the requirements, etc., and saw that they asked for online applications. After filling out the application, I realized it was the exact same application I had filled out for many other jobs that I never got.

Do online applications really work? Do they even go to the store that you're applying for? When is the earliest I should call?

I really need the money, and this job would be a huge dream come true, but I really don't know if my application is even getting to them.

i have the same question. It's always better to go in store and talk to a manager but lately it seems like everyone is doing applications online. I've been told to go online and apply. Even though I still go in a leave them my resume.

I'm not sure if they even take apps in the store. There have been some places I've gone to that tell you to apply online only. I think I saw on the Ulta site that they've stopped with paper completely.

I think online is only one resource. It only works if (a) they have no leads or (b) you are a lead just following up online. So I would suggest that you get your face known because (b) works much better than (a).

Thanks!
This definitely helped me feel a lot better. I'm probably headed over there this weekend anyway so I'm going to drop off my resume while I'm there.

I'm not totally sure about online applications since there so impersonal, the employees there at the store or the managers don't get to meet you or form a first impression of you until your interview.

I'd give it about a week before I'd call them to check up if they haven't already called you. Not to crush your hopes or anything but I've filled out a TON of online applications and applications period actually and I've only gotten a few call backs and interviews =[ The job market is pretty bad right now. But since the Ulta IS hiring, things should be much easier for you!

Same thing that's happened to me. I've filled out several applications over the last year with nothing to show from them. But hopefully since they are hiring, I'll at least get an interview! =]

I have filled out tons of online applications, and I only get emails in return saying "Sorry not at this time" The job market is a tough one right now! I am pretty desperate, I even applied at Target... and they said "sorry. not right now"

Well girl let us know if you hear anything from them! At least one of us will get somewhere in this financial crisis =/

I've been filling out applications a few weeks before I turned 18 (October of 2008) and I've been to interviews, got hired and lost the job within a week They decided to hire me without checking what days and times they ACTUALLY need someone to work. I'm not able to do Saturdays which I made known to the manager who never said anything about it til a few days after they hired me. I've been filling out more applications but so far nothing.
