outer v

i have no idea what this outer v thing is or how to do it. im a newbie at all this and how i do it is put one color on my lid, one color in the crease, sometimes a little bit of a darker color on the outer part of the crease, and one color on my browbone. do i probably look funny doing it this way? can anyone help me learn how to do the outer v? and wat is it?
