Outlawing Barbie?!?!

This is absurd. I cannot believe someone is stupid enough to consider tyring to make barbie illegal. Personally i think barbie is a good role model for kids. Sure she;s like 7 ft tall with ginormus boobs and a waist that should be snapped in two, but look at all her accomplishments!
President, Astronaut, Doctor, Vet, Nurse, Olympic athlete, professor etc.
Barbie has done it all! And she hasn't asked for ken's help. Her dream house, she bought it. Her camper, corvette, cruise ship, all hers.
She helps raise her sisters (skipper and kelly). Not only that but Barbie celebrates diversity. I remember there used to be a massive line of diffrent ethnicities all in there traditional costume.

I think it's so easy to pan Barbie. And it's SO superficial. It doesnt take much to see past her "bimbo" image, and see that theres a lot more to her.

Even if Barbie was all about beauty, why stop with her then? Why not ban nerf guns saying they premote violence? But no. That will never happen.

Besides that, it's a parents job to raise their children and instill value, not a toys and not the states.

I loved Barbie as a kid and she was a role model for me, a positive one. Like someone else said, there are way more negative and harmful toys out there. Besides that, if a child is negatively affected by the barbie, it's the parent's job to take it away or make them feel better.

Mabelle and Hilly - YES!

This is just ridiculous. I mean, I wasn't a huge Barbie fan growing up, but I did enjoy playing with them and I wouldn't mind if my daughter did. Barbie is very versatile, well rounded, and she's a GO GETTER! Barbie has beauty, brains, work ethic, and integrity. Honestly, I think Barbie is a pretty damn good role model LOL

There are so many tangents that could spring off of this issue, but I'm only going to throw out one:

If they want to take Barbie away from little girls, they need to take all those action figures with guns and tanks and other such things off the shelves too.

I heard something about this real quick in tv the other night but didn't get to watch the news. Thanks for posting this!

This is just crazy. It's not going to happen. Barbie has been such a huge icon for little girls growing up for 50 years now. Not because she's "physically attractive". But she gives out the message to little girls that they can be independent and accomplish whatever they want in life.

If there going to take barbie away they'll need to take a ton of other toys out there from kids.

On topic, seriously how idiotic do something about toy guns or the fact that the congress created a law that's going to make me a criminal when I buy european toys for my kid

This law was supposed to go into affect Feb 10th this year they delayed it a year but it created havoc with libraries saying they would have to ban kids, European toy companies saying they won't ship to the US, clothing companies having to pull clothing from the shelves, lots of small clothing/toy makers almost going out of business.

Lots of small US toy makers can't afford the testing, lots of EU ones won't do it because of the cost, at one point it would be illegal to resell my kids clothes they have since said resellers don't count.
But I mostly buy wooden toys from companies that won't do the testing but are safe and I trust more than the gov, and since they don't test they will be illegal, so I'll be importing contraband

Your tax dollars hard at work. Apparently, Barbie is the biggest problem facing the economically depressed state of West Virginia.

Man there's so much more important stuff to put time and money into, they're gonna outlaw a doll? Are we serious? What are the ppl in W. Virginia saying? I hope they're not going to allow them to do that nonsense...
