Hey don't worry! All you have to do is unfold the ends of the tubes. I unroll the ends and then very lightly queeze from the middle of the tube (not the end nearest the opening) when I want the paint to come out. I haven't really had any problems at all by doing this.

I learned this trick from fellow specktra-ers just before I got my first set of paints and it's worked like a charm! I think I've even squeezed the middle of the tube while the lid was still on before I used some of mine the first time, just to push some of the paint into the unrolled ends to relieve the pressure.

Hope that helps!

PS: Lalli, did you get my PM about the glitter and lipbrush?

I once mentioned this at a MAC counter and the MA there didn't know this trick. She was used to it squirting out!

That's a great idea, roxybc! I knew to unroll the paint tube, but I wished I'd known to squeeze the middle of the tube before taking the cap off to even out the pressure. Yesterday a big dot of Chiaroscuro got pushed out of my tube and all I had handy was a clean contact lens case. I put the dot in one of the wells and screwed the cap on tight. Today, the paint was as pliable as it is coming from the tube.

I don't think I'd put a huge amount of paint in a CL case, but it does keep the occasional spurty blob workable. HTH someone!

ive never ever had this problem but to get mine i just use a needle or a cocktail stick and scrap the bit i need out of the tube so i dont get anymore than what i need

I was lucky that the MA at the cleveland store gave me a heads up that it may happen. She even gave me a little sample jar to put the spill in, just incase. What a sweetie.

And I've had a little bit of Chiaroscuro in that (tighly sealed) jar for weeks and it's just fine.

I'm just very very careful on the pressure I use when squeezing the tubes.

The spillage problem stops as you begin using the Pain tube more and more. I only had this problem in the beginning, I think it's because of the pressure and air bubbles inside that rise to the surface and force out the paint. Now I'm about halfway through some of my Paints and I never get this problem anymore, I can squeeze out the exact amount that I need.

I don't know if there's a post like this anywhere (I searched), but my paint has the tendency to want to keep coming out the tube. I've experienced this with all products packaged in the metal tube. Any ideas on how to prevent this?

TIA

before you open it, unroll the end once to relieve some of that pressure, that's what I did and it made a HUGE difference. No more spitty splatter.

thats the reason i dont use paints as a base. i use UD primer potion. once in a while i do use my paints so it doesnt go to waste (i hate wasting money) so what i do is put some on my 242 brush and quickly close the cap. then i repeat when i need more. it helps alot but sometimes you have to be careful when you open the cap again. hope this helps!!

this usually happens when there's a 'small' amount of paint in the openinh and air behind it. what I did before and really helped is: put the cap on, and shake the paint down with two or three powerfull shakes. it should move all air to the opening and I never experienced any waste again

once i unrolled the bottom of the paints i haven't had spillage once.
It really helps to get rid of the excess air pressure.

temperature also causes oozing

In addition to rolling out the ends of the paint and especially if you've just started with a new tube of paint where there's lot of pressure - try putting your paint in the fridge (keep it in a sealed bag or container). I discovered this when I noticed that my paint oozed out much more rapidly when the weather was hot. When the weather was cooler it oozed out slower or not at all. Makes sense since air expands in heat so picture all the pressure building when its warm out!

Hope this will help
