Pans for pressing pigments - European line?

Hi girls.

What eyeshadow brand do you use for pressing pigments in Europe (pans)? I would prefer one that fits into a MAC pallette. Is there something that's a good equivalent? I can't seem to find any cheap eyeshadow pans that would work. A lot of them have weird shapes. Since we have different brands in Europe, I thought someone could give me a suggestion...

The thing is, their eyeshadows are kind of expensive here so it seems like a waste to just throw away the eyeshadow for the pan....That's why I'm looking for something really cheap. Is it possible to buy just the pans anywhere, like from a wholesale place or something?

I understand. I remember my sister had some eye shadows from Margaret Astor and they were the same size as MAC ones, and it's a cheap band.

Did you try to call your MAC counter and ask them about those pans? When customers bring back their empty palettes to refill them, maybe they can keep the pans for you? Who knows...

Thank you!! Yes we have Claire's here. I never thought to check out their makeup line! lol (Gee I wonder why, hehe.) That link was helpful, thanks, I can read French.

I will check it out for sure. Also, does anyone know the H&M makeup line, if their eyeshadow pans would fit?

I have an eyeshadow palette from H&M! The MAC pans are a little bit bigger but I don't think that's a real problem !? Maybe the single shadows have another size?

Here's a picture with a shadow in the H&M's palette and a pan from MAC :

@ Jayne - How are the H&M shadows for quality? They are so cheap. I saw a green shadow that looked exactly like Golder's Green pigment or the discontinued Guacamole shadow from MAC, and the consistency felt great on my hand! A few of the other ones I swatched on my hand were so-so.

I'm gonna try to explain that in english...hum...

I only have an eyeshadow palette from H&M, I don't have any single eyeshadow.

The eyeshadows in this palette are not very pigmented and the color grows blurred rather quickly !!

But when I went to h&m the last time I have seen some new single eyeshadows with an other texture, into powder and cream, I don't know how to explain, not totally cream but not totally powder lol

They seems to be really better, more pigmented and with a really vibrant color !

I remember of the blue one, really pretty

The case of these shadows was much larger than the others and there were 3 or 4 different colors if I remember well !

I've just bought a 5 pans palette from Claire's for only 4,90€!! I didn't try the e/s yet but for that price, I'm not expecting them to be really pigmented
hmm.gif
And I won't be sorry to throw them away to put some pigments in the pans...

I also got a small pallette at Claires. Their eyeshadow is ATTROCIOUS! lmfao Oh well, I just scraped it out with a knife.

I pressed 4 of my pigment in it, it worked fantastic. Steel Blue was harder to press because of it's weird texture, it's still a bit grainy in the pan. Blue Brown is awesome pressed, as is Melon.

What kind of alcohol did you use? I've got 70° alcohol I wonder if it'll work well and without damage for the eyes
hmm.gif
and how did you dry them? I've seen on a tutorial the straight iron method or the oven one, but I don't have any of those

I used surgical spirit and let the pans dry naturally, I found I got the best result that way, just leave them in a warm room to do their thing! When I used straightening irons, I got a bit of a poo result!

I used 90% alcohol that I got at a pharmacy. I mixed the pigment with the alcohol directly in the empty Claire's pan. I used an orange stick (the ones you use for nails) to stir and mix. Then I also just let them air dry overnight.

The next day they were dry, I put a paper towel on the pigment top and pressed down on it hard with a coin, just using my thumbs. Worked well!

I think 70% alcohol would work too, it will just take a bit longer to dry I guess. The alcohol evaporates anyway, so I don't think it will irritate your eyes.

I'm going to check out Claires for some pans, I want to press my pigments. I'm having trouble finding the alcohol to use though, I can't find any. Anyone know which shops in the UK sell it? I've tried Superdrug and checked the Boots website but can't seem to find it.
