Hi I have been applying for so many jobs this past month and finally got sent an email for an interview at Macy's. My problem is that it says the position is for this "Holiday/Seasonal Receiving/Merchandise Processing Associate, Temporary Part Time, Early Morning" and I can't remember applying for that position! lol can anyone tell me what position this might be? Is it like early morning truck person? Putting the merchandise out on the floor? I did retail for about 6 months and had to do the whole truck thing at 5 AM before and that was not fun cause I left the store right when it opened! If anyone knows what this position is please let me know before I schedule my interview thanks!

I've found that sometimes what you apply for is nothing at all like what you'll be interviewing for. I've also seen people come in with interviews scheduled for positions that were never in the least little bit available (example, Full Time cosmetics when there hasn't been a full time cosmetics position available in years).

Call the store and see what position you'll be interviewing for, is my suggestion.

I would say based on the description, that yes, it is what you said. Have never had an interview though for something I never applied for but do call and ask.

Yes, you'd be merchandising the store before it opens. Keep in mind that they open at 10AM during the week and 9AM on the weekends... and if they're having a "one day sale" (which is every other fricking weekend), you'll open even earlier... then the holidays roll around (which starts before Thanksgiving for them), and you will easily be having to show up to work at 2-3AM.

I used to work as a cosmetics on call, so I can't say much about the company but the whole on call thing is a pain in the rear end unless you have a good manager. Otherwise, don't bother with the company. They're greedy bastards.
