Perfect foundation for very Oily skin??

Hi everyone
smiles.gif
Lately I've been having very oily skin for some reason.. maybe from stress or the food I'm eating.. I'm not sure. Anyhow, right now I'm using oil blotting sheets and Bare Escentuals foundation, but it doesn't seem to work that well. The foundation coverage only lasts about 30 minutes, and then my face is all oily and shiny again. So, I was wondering if anybody who has experience in dealing with oily skin could recommend me some great foundation that will prevent the oil from showing on my face All day long. But a foundation that doesn't feel too heavy and clog my pores. I'm thinking about MAC foundation, but I don't know which one, and if it'll help.

Thanks in advance!

I really love the mineral makeup (I have oily skin too). Do you use any type of oil control primer? Do you use the mineral veil on top?

Well 1st dont use MAC foundation, is not good for your skin if you dont want cloged pores.

I'd love to suggest something but also what matters is what moisturizer or any other skincare you use too. Maybe we could help a bit more then

I don't use any primers, I sometimes moisturize my face before, but i usually don't because the moisturizer I use makes my face even more oily.. I also need a good recommendation for moisturizers for oily skin

Anyhow, i use mineral veil sometimes also, but it doesn't always keep back the oil. I was thinking MAC studio tech or Select moistureblend spf 15 because I was thinking the matte finish -the mac website says- would control the oil. If i had to use a foundation that would be a little heavier than Bare Escentuals (id comes on really sheer imo) that would be better than looking really oily.

I have oily skin and MAC foundations were a nightmare. I use prescriptives virtual matte and I love it.

I agree with greentwig, MAC foundations BAD for oily skin! Mineral makeup is definitely the best invention for oily skinned girls since.... well, since blotting papers!

. I use a silk and pearl primer paste underneath my mineral makeup and it's really helped to control oil all day long. I rarely need my blotting papers any longer.

For moisturizer, I use just a couple drops of camellia oil. Now that it's winter, my skin is more combo so I'll use Murad's Vitalic moisturizer. It contains pomegranate, smells yummy, it's light texture and won't clog your pores. After you apply moisturizer, use a little bit of the silk/pearl paste. You'll see how it mattifies and feel a slight tightening effect for a few seconds. Then follow up with your sunscreen and let it sink in for a few minutes before you apply your MMU.

BTW, BE contains bismuth, which can lend a rather metallic sheen to it. Be sure to dust some mineral veil to combat this sheen, or consider a different line.

I have never used this, but heard that Mac's Oil Control lotion is really good. There are also oil control powders that can be used under your mineral makeup. I buy mine on Ebay

Ok well since there is a lot more to oily skin here are a few great links to read:

Link: http://specktra.net/f177/long-skinca...y-combo-86901/

Here is a quote from part of the link that I use and it helps a LOT:
"1. Pure jojoba oil to remove makeup - about once a week I'll follow up with a long massage with jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is actually a wax that closely resembles human sebum and will actually MELT the sebum clogging up your pores. After I remove my makeup and rinse with warm water, I'll massage a generous amount all over and keep massaging in circular motions for about 15 minutes until I actually feel little plugs popping out. I sit on the couch and watch the news while I do this. Once I'm done with makeup removal, I rinse with cool water [I DON'T use super hot water] then wipe off any remaining oil with a microfiber washcloth. BTW, you can find tons of threads on EDS for this method of cleansing. Use keywords OCM or oil Cleansing Method if you want to find out more. "

I cant find the exact link on the asprin mask that I was looking for but it's in this thread and is helps loads!! Here is a quote:
"without mortar & pestle- in a small dish, splash some water on-top of 4 aspirins and let it site for a minute waiting for it to dissolve. add a drizzle of honey and stir well.
apply onto face and massage for a minute, but try not to scrub too hard. let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. pat (don't rub) your skin dry with a clean towel and continue on with regular skincare routine."

Other than those 2 things I use The Body Shop - Grapseed Nightime Moisturizer... it seems from the title like it would make you more oily but it dosent, this one will be perfect, you may even feel like you need more moisturizer but this cream is just perfect
smiles.gif

Here's the link:The Body Shop: Grapeseed Extra Rich Night Cream, face cream, moisturizer, face moisturizer, lotion, face treatment, grapeseed, night, cream, moisturizer, lotion, skin care

Jojoba Oil can be found @ Mother's markets and also online, I'm not sure where you live, it's a bit pricy but it will last a long long time as you dont need to use too much when you use it.

You can get any plain asprin, dont worry about name brand.

I HOPE THIS HELPS

i have the oiliest skin EVER! and at first i used MAC mineralize satinfinish foundation which was ok... it only controlled shine if i put BE mineral veil on top.. same with studio fix fluid which im NOT liking at all.. it breaks me out abit
the only foundation that works PERFECT for my very oil slick skin is bare escentuals using the 182 and 187 brushes with mineral veil on top. Seriously... my skin looks flawless and i dont even need to apply more mineral veil throughout the day. But yeh dont bother with the MAC foundations i dont think they are that good especially for the price.

Ohh a great drugstore foundation ive used was Maxfactor age renew [i think thats what it was called] it has SPF12 i think.. and it was AMAZING, made my look younger and brighter [even though im already young lol] and i put mineral veil on top and my skin looked perfect x

Thanks everyone for your advice! I guess MAC foundations aren't good for my skin type. Many are saying Bare Escentuals is good, but I've been using that for about 2 years now, and I'm not that satisfied with the results, even with the mineral veil on top. But I think I'll try it along with the other primers and products you guys mentioned

Btw, greentwig- where can i buy silk and pearl primer paste camellia oil?
*Another quick question- so with my oily skin, would MAC Fix+ be a bad product for me?

I have really oily skin and there are three makeups that don't break me out, have enough yellow in them to look natural , and last a 12 hour shift if I carry blotting papers. I do use primer, but I do not moisturize. If I am out in the sun I use zinc sunblock and no primer first.
!> NARS oil free foundation

2. Revlon Colorsaty w/softflex (oily skin)

3> Laura Mercier Oil Free

MUFE Matte is excellent if you can find the right shade. Not looking like I have any foundation at all on is critical for me! Also, The ingrediants in my foundation must not have SPF (degrades on the skin), or anything comedogenic. I am blackhead and whitehead free, I want to stay that way.

Powder is very important too. I use blotter sheets after applying foundation and before powdering. (I use NARS loose powder. Another really excellent one is BE Mineral Veil (its cornstartch though) or MUFE Matte loose powder.
Prsee the powder into your skin with a cotten pad, use alot, buff any excess off.
Carry blotting papers. Some companies like Shiseido and NARS have sheets that remove oil but not makeup, and impart translucent powder.

Fix+ is good for any skin type. It's basically water with vitamins & minerals for your skin. If you haven't bought any, buy some...seriously it's a great product

i actually have "nightmare" oily skin - the type of skin that shines and that needs to be tamed with blotting paper 24/7 around the t-zone.

i follow good and consistent skin regimen yet i've always had issues with finding a good solid foundation/powder that will last all day without giving me any horrible breakouts or constant blotting. i was reading some comments that have been posted before and a lot of the posters really like bare escentuals/bare mineral foundation...

i've actually used BE for years until i realized it made my cheek area really really flaky and dry for some reason (i have combination oily skin) so i tried switching the skin products to see if that'd help but not really.

most people start with non-mineral foundation to mineral foundation, but i guess i did the exact opposite.

i use SFF and hyper real on some of the days i want to go for the "dewy" look (which is strange b/c a lot of people posted this is definitely a no-no for oily/acne-prone skins) and they have been working really well for me. i finish with a little bit of the blot powder and i never have to reapply the powder or blot my face throughout the day, which is a mere miracle. i know you didn't ask about concealers, but i use select cover-up and it's been a miracle product for me. on my late days, i just apply this in place of foundation in areas that really need it and i just run out and it works great. as i point out again, i have super oily skin/very susceptible to break-outs.

i guess what i'm trying to say is, no skin is exactly alike, so test some of the stuff you are curious about out and see if they work for you.

Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation - the best staying power, combats oiliness altogether, and recommended by the American Cancer Society for it's SPF power!

Not greentwig, but since she provided a link to one of my posts in the skincare board, I feel qualified to answer. I currently make my own DIY version of silk/pearl paste and powder, but before I got into that [pearl is TRICKY to work with] I bought it all from Silken Pearl Products. This company is based in Canada and can take some time to ship, but the prices are very reasonable and portions are generous.

I purchase camellia oil from Silkia Camellia Oil, Epidermx II, AlphaDerma CE, MaMa Lotion, Relax-A-Line, Vialox. This site is based in California. Shipping is extremely quick and CS is superb! They also offer a lot of my favorite skincare products all in one place.

BTW, I think mineral makeup, whether it's in liquid mineral or powder form is the absolute blessing for oily skin! Nothing to clog pores, provides as little or as much coverage as you desire and if done right, the finish is flawless. I truly think of MMU as an extension of my skincare routine. Everyday Minerals in my favorite powdered MMU and liquid mineral makeup from NCN Pro Skincare. I've been eyeing the liquid mineral from MAD minerals and plan to try that when I've finished my current, the ingredients sound positively yummy!

HTH!

BE has quite a shiny finish, I would try out other mineral foundations if you're not happy with BE but want to stick with minerals. I really like Alima, the finish is more matte. Everyday Minerals has a true matte finish for one of their formulas as well.
