Pigments or Eyeshadows??

Does anyone else have problems blending eyeshadows? Its so hard for me to blend them, even with good brushes. Pigments are so much easier. Even the drugstore piggies like HIP are easy. Is there anything I can do to get the regular eyeshadows to blend easily? Which is easier for you to blend??

I'm really scared about dropping my pigment jars too. Normally I shake it so some gets on the lid and then I put the jar up somewhere while I'm applying my make up. Using the lid is a lot easier. Plus I know if I drop it, I won't lose much.

For me, blending is easier with pigments. But I still have no problem blending my e/s

I find pigs to blend easier too, some e/s aren't too bad but I hate trying to blend creme de violet.

If you're scared of spilling a full jar of pigment, you can scoop out a little bit into a sample jar and use that, and refill it as needed. That way if you spill, you will only lose a small amount.

For blending eye shadows... I find it much easier after giving them a good base, something powdery they can move on it.
At first I used concealer and loose powder, now I use a ArtDeco shadow base and mineral veil, a light shadow or loose powder. And as I have super oily lids this heps them last really much longer.

And yes I find piggies easier to blend too and I am also scared of dropping them too hahahha

There are some eyeshadows that I have problem blending but not many. Piggies are definately easier to blend and alot more you can do with them.

Even with a base my e/s looks like crap by the time I get home, I look like I've been punched in the face... ok a little dramatic.

I'm always afraid of dropping my piggies too. Especially after my dog barked really loud one morning for no apparent reason, causing me to knock over my Your Ladyship.

But I usually press the pigments that I use most often (Your Ladyship, Vanilla, Gold Dusk, etc.) and they still blend wonderfully.

As far as shadows go, some blend like a dream and others are a PITA, and even that changes from day to day.

I prefer pigments all the way. I have a ton in sample jars so I don't mess with full jars. I love how I can either use the colors as is, or wet for more intensity. Shadows in pots are harder for me to do this.

MAC e/s for me are pretty easy to blend with the exception of a few e/s which i can't make it to work for me no matter how much i try to blend.

Pigments are nice as well...but as most of my pigments are in full sized form, i always have a phobia of droppin the whole jar and spilling them out.

Sample jars sell for so darn expensive over here in my country - so i'm not going to buy sample jars to transfer my piggies into unless i can find some gals to spree for jars and split the cost of the jars up.

I find that for applying pigments, i prefer to use #242 to pack on the pigments - less pigment dropoff as compared to me using a fluffier brush like a 239. But this depends on individual preference. So yeah...

geeko have you tried lynnsy123 on ebay for empty sample jars? she sells pretty cheap and I get mine from her!

I always transfer a small amount into a sample jars for personal use - this way I do two things - 1) if I drop it I dont lose a lot and 2) this keeps my full jar sterile, not dipping my brushes into the full jar. I often swap samples with other people and its nicer knowing that the samples are coming from a clean jar.

I prefer pigments, but they can be so messy. I ended up pressing most of mine so they travel more easily. Definitely have an easier time blending the pigments though.
