Pink FOTD and questions

So this was my makeup for work last night:

I used all Fyrinnae piggies: Meerket on lid, then Peaseblossom in the middle, and Daemon's Tale in outer corner.

Now the questions:

I know that "drawn on" brows are a big peeve with people, and actually I hate doing it, but as you can see on the close ups, I have like 20 hairs above each eye. If I follow my natural brow growth, they are rounded. If I use a stencil, they are more angular, I guess you could say (I have a FOTD with the stencil a couple days ago...the peacock one). Which looks better on my face, rounded, or the angular arched?

As you can see, my blending, while better than it used to be, still sucks ass. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can blend the lid colors just fine, but blending the crease into the highlight color doesn't work as well. For the crease, I'm using the windshield wiper action. Is that correct? Am I supposed to be blending the crease into the highlight, or the highlight into the crease? If I blend too much, it ends up looking washed out. How do you gorgeous women blend so well, and still end up being able to see the colors? I'm looking for a gradient type blend, and just can't seem to get there.

Do I look bad with no winged eyeliner? I can't do it to save my life. I have puppy dog lids, so the wing just doesn't work.

Um, I guess that's about it. As always, constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated in advance.

I love it, I know what you mean about losing the intensity after you blend. When that happens to me I just go back over with the colors to make them pop again and I will just take my 227 and run it over the top. Just layer as much as you need to!

I'm happy to see another Fyrinnae fiend :] Pinks look gorgeous on you.

I think angular eyebrows look best on everyone, it's very easy when you're roundng eyebrows to make them look a bit 1920s or a bit undefined. One benefit of drawing on eyebrows is that you can pick and choose your shape to suit your makeup and mood.

As for blending, apply the highlight colour first, then gradually add the crease colour. Lighten the pressure as you blend upwards from the crease - the brush will apply less pigment and it will look more blended as a result. Then if you still want some more blending, just use a fluffy brush and the wiper motion as you have been doing :]

Here are my suggestions about blending...

1. I second the suggestion about applying the highlight color first, then blending the colors together.

2. Apply the lid color and highlight color, and then apply your crease color with your blending brush instead of using your blending brush after applying. This will blend it as you go.

3. Sometimes I just use my small eyeshadow brush and apply and blend as I go for precise blending, so you might want to try that as well, especially if you're using super dark or matte colors.

Oh yeah and one other thing that took me forever to learn: the highlight on your browbone doesn't have to be super heavy; that might make blending a little easier for you too, because the lighter highlight won't muddy and lighten your crease color

. HTH!

Your question about winged liner -- personally I think it enhances everyone's eyeshape because it elongates your eye, but to each his own!

Ok love muffin...I'm going to say this, first your hair is ROCKIN, LOVE IT.
then I'll say try blending a 'best friend color' into your crease. We're talkin matte, 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone. THEN apply your lid color. It will help the bright, shimmery shades blend TOWARD that highlight but not WITH the highlight. That's how you get the 'gradient effect'. Winged eyeliner is not a MUST and personally I think you look great without it. Trust me, that best friend color will help create that depth and then gradually fade to your brightest color...Keep posting, I would LOVE to see your progress. Great colors, nice job!!

I love the colors on you. I think everyone's tips so far are great.

I agree with uh oh disco on the brows. I personally think rounded brows look dated ( that's just my personal opinion, please don't take offense) I find angled brows look more natural and give your face a mini lift.

I agree with Amyzon on the liner..have you tried tracing the outside edge of your eyeshadow and connecting it with your liner? I know that's the only way I can get my wings to look the more or less even.

As for the blending I think it's a combination of what everyone said. I highlight first, I use a midtone color and I apply the crease color ( over midtone) with a blending brush ( otherwise I just end up with a muddy smudged makeup look). I also think that doing little circles to blend works better with some brushes than windscreen wiper.

Most importantly though, I really wouldn't worry too much about! You look great and you can def. see that you're trying..which is more than can be said for a lot of women these days unfortunatly!

KatRosier has a great suggestion with connecting the liner! Sometimes I take Black Tied (because I usually line my eyes with Blacktrack Fluidline) and use short strokes to connect the end of the wing with the crease color, just using a small eye shadow brush to blend the black shadow into the crease slightly. It defines the crease a little more and gives the whole look a lot more fluidity, make the liner look less harsh. This is something you could definetly try.

Sorry I'm blabbing so much! LOL

Thanks for the replies. I also prefer the angular brows over the rounded ones.

I just wish those damn things would grow back in already. I hope it doesn't take years, or I might just give up and tattoo them on. *sigh* And I really don't want to have to do that.

i love the look!

if you have trouble blending, maybe try small cricles with the brush tip instead of windsheild wiper motions?

I gave in and got mine tattood 2 months ago. It was so worth every penny! The lady that did mine mixed 3 colors and 2 techniques. She did the whole eyebrow in a light ash blonde base (my natural hair color in black!) then she traced the outline in a cool dark brown and finally she did the hair stroke technique on the parts that are practically bald in a very dark brown(for me thats the outer 1/3rd). I like that they dont look tattood on. when Im not wearing makeup my eyebrows dont stand out, yet if I wanted to go over them with shadow they dont look weird either. I have a touch up in mid feb ( its part of the package, she wanted to see how the ink color reacts with my skin and to adjust the color accordingly) I think I will ask her to thicken the inner corners a bit as I like eyebrows on the thicker side.

hth!

Please dont hesistate to ask questions, I would love to help in any way I can.

I believe it's just my Lip Fusion clear gloss on at that point. I let that soak in for 5 minutes or so before putting on my liner.

Tattooing eyebrows makes me nervous. I mean, I've got 4 regular tattoos, so it's not the needle that makes me nervous.

I've just always said I'll probably need a face lift one day, and if I get eyebrows tattooed on and then a face lift, will my brows wind up in the middle of my forehead?

Then I'd have to figure out a way to get a week off of work so I don't have to go in with scaling brows, hoping no one thinks I have leprosy, lol.

I'm not quite sure how it works in the states. It's a semi permenant procedure here. I'll have to get them done again in 5 years time. If I understood correctly, they dont really stick the needle in deep. It's actually done with a rotary pen kinda thing. Because they don't inject the pigment deeply, there's hardly any scaling at all. They gave me a neosporin kinda ointment to use for 5 days and that was it.

p.s I dont have any tattoos at all so I was really really scared to get it done.

I'll have to look into it here. The only thing I know for sure is that it costs about $300.

Semi permanent wouldn't be bad though, because I know on "real" tattoos, that the ink fades...black turns into a greenish tinge. So, if it's not permanent, then I'm guessing less change of color change.

I'm going to have to Google this now. Thanks for the information!
