I do believe in ghosts and here is my ghost story.

When I was younger I was always uneasy in my Mom's house even though I lived there since I was 2. It actually only stopped maybe 6 years ago. Anyway one night this is what happened.

I was probably 14 at the time, my Mom was asleep on the couch in the family room (my brother that was 18 was out partying and she would always sleep on the couch until we got home from where ever.)
It was raining so I went into the dining room to look out the window to see how hard it was raining. The dining room is superated by the kitchen from the family room and the living room is connected to the dining room.
So I'm looking out the dining room window and from my right, off in the living room I heard "Mom" in my voice. I turned towards that room totally startled and then I hear my Mom from the family room go "What?"
Okay first off, 99% of the time when I would call my Mom she would not wake up and secondly we were the only two in the house.
Needless to say I bolted and started yelling "That wasn't me, that wasn't me!"
Freaked the f-in heck out of me. That 100% confirmed the whole ghost thing for me. No one can ever tell me otherwise.

I don't really believe in that stuff, but it's definitely fun to read about, and fun to watch on TV.

Oooh nice thread! I'm a believer even though I haven't had many experiences but one and I'm not even sure if it was real or not.

This is what happened...

I was visiting my mom a few years ago and at the time I was probably about 7 or 8 months prego. She has a living room that has this corner where there's a couch bed and that's where I always sleep when I visit. She always keeps night lights on so if someone got up, they'd find their way. Anyway I'm not sure what time it was but I remember waking up and looking up towards the ceiling and there was this old woman floating at the top wearing all black with grey stringy hair pointing at me. I was so freaked out that I put my head under the blankets and when I looked again she was gone. I was so scarred out of my mind that I started yelling for my mom who’s room was just on the other side of where I was at but I couldn't talk. It was more like a groaning noise that I was making, like no words would come out. I was so terrified that I wanted to get up and run to her room but I was to scarred to get up. I guess I went back to sleep cause that's all I remember but everything was so clear. In the morning I told my mom what happened and she kinda laughed like yeah right. My step dad laughed to but then later he told me that there used to be an old woman that lived in the house before they did so it was possible.

A friend also told me that when your pregnant your more vulnerable to stuff like that so who knows.

For some reason I have always been fascinated with the paranormal and I love watching all those shows especially TAPS, I always get sucked in with that one. I also like Celebrity Paranormal but it seemed kinda fake.

I'm pretty skeptical...like, if I can't see it, it isn't real.

Which is why one of my hobbies is ghost hunting! My mom got into paranormal research after seeing a tv show a few years ago, and now we travel all around the country, investigating haunted locations. I like to use the technical equipment to try and find authentic evidence of a haunting...I'm actually off to a Paranormal Researchers convention in Savannah, GA at the end of the month

I still can't say if I believe in ghosts or not. I'm still looking for that holy grail piece of evidence. I've had my share of creepy, unexplainable experiences, though
smiles.gif
I suppose I'll keep hunting away until a ghost walks up to me and says "Lady, seriously, I'm right the f*ck here!"

Nope, I dont believe in the spirit world, heaven or any of that stuff. I kinda thing they go hand in hand. I might believe if I had evidence I could see.

I put em in the catagories with UFO's.

Exactly.

I'm a pretty firm atheist, so I have trouble beleiving in *anything* of that nature. But like you said, I might believe if I had evidence I could see. Well put!

ok, i'll have to remember that one.

i very firmly believe in ghosts. so many things have happened to me, i could go on for hours. here's a few:

1. when i moved out of my parent's house and into a share house, i moved into a really old house. was there (alone) one afternoon, when i was walking down the hall carrying one of the cats. i was looking down, and saw a person's leg standing there. looked up, nothing. housemate explained later that afternoon that we had a resident ghost, and said ghost tended to hang out in the hallway. i was skeptical until i saw one of the cats flexing like someone was patting it in the hallway, when there was no-one there. one of the cats also refused to stay in the hallway for longer than it took for it to race down it.

2. same house. was in my room getting changed (again, home alone). bedroom door went flying open, about halfway, then slammed shut HARD.... almost as if someone was going to barge in the room, saw me and then quickly shut the door. i was a bit worried after that.

3. i visited a well known haunted site (the old quarantine station) here in sydney. many unusual things happened to me whilst there, but the most worrying: i was in the hospital wing. i'd be fine in the first ward, but as soon as i walked into the second ward i felt like i'd stepped into a freezer. the cold air followed me around the room. i called a few people over, all of those who came over noticed the air around me was much colder than the rest of the air in the room.. and we tested this in several spots. the cold air would follow me to the door, and as soon as i was outside, i was fine again. in case it was my imagination, i went in a second time. same thing. third time. same thing. something or someone in there was following me around.

Ooh I looove everything supernatural and paranormal... and I do believe in Ghosts!
Unfortunately I never before had any Ghost-experiences like seeing any of them, but I had a few scary moments.
Like when I was over at my firends house and we watched "The Ring" and after we watched it the phone rang. I ry not to show how much such things scare me so I pick up the phone but there's no one. I mean, no body said anything. That was scary. I slept with a light on for 2 weeks. I tell myself it's a coincidence and prolly some brat making fun of us, but still...
The other scary moment was when I was all alone at home and I woke up in the middle of the night because somebody was taking a shower. I went to the bathroom to check and yeah well... there was water in the drain. I dont have to mention I didnt sleep that night, do I?

Horror movies scare the s--t out of me, too, but I still watch them...and I just looove to read all of your ghost stories, so keep posting!!

I DO believe in ghosts. Ive had many experiences. and I love all of your storys so far girls!

my latest, I lived in a old morgue In Washington state.. but Before I knew it was a morgue my boyfriend and I Experienced many many things in that place.. It was the basement of a really old house , it was turned into a large apartment , it had its own entrance and it was a pretty nice place. and the house above it was AMAZING! but One night, we were laying in bed and we heard a big crash in the bathroom. and my open traincase, had been pushed off the counter, onto the floor (MAC EVERYWHERE!!!) I flipped the f**k out!! traincases don't fall off counters and I was very anal about the placement of my makeup, I make sure its no where near falling.(its an investment and you ALL know what im talking about) I had a shaving razor fly across the shower while I was in it. yea.. I ran out butt naked and all soapy.. haha.. so a few weeks later I was bringing the rent check to the lady upstairs, and I asked her about her house, she said it was built in 1900, and It was the very first Morgue in the town (YIKES!!) I moved out.. back to California... which leads me into my next story!

My dads house. which was my parents house (before divorce),, was haunted.
when I was little I would always tell my mom about the "children" .. she thought I had an active imagination.

I experienced tons of things in this house, I saw things. "People" also known as shadow people. all the time. The livingroom stereo system used to sometimes come on in the middle of the night it was unexplainable. One particular night I was on the internet, and the light behind me started to blink, but when I turned to look at it , it would stop, (home alone) so I went over to the light to wiggle the light bulb, i thought maybe it was about to burn out,so i wiggled it.. nothing... i sat there.. nothing.. went back to the computer.. it started again.. this situation went on for about 10 minutes untill I saw a little "something" run past the couch (near where the lightswitch was) and up the hallway.. (HOLY SH*T ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME!) I flipped out

2 years ago My dad moved outta that house, to another town, and thanks to myspace I found an Invitation to a Halloween party at my old house! I contacted one of the girls who lived there, and she was freaked out when I asked her if she ever experiences weird things in that house, and She had , she said it was so weird that I had asked her that because she reciently had heard children laughing in the hallway, as she was home alone. freaky!

I have about 5 more storys but this post would be 5 miles long

I'm not sure. On one hand, I've never experienced ghosts. I think a lot of ghost spotting can be logically explained. On the other hand, just because I've never seen a ghost doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I've never seen a lot of stuff that I know exists.

I'm waiting for more concrete proof, I guess.

I believe in ghosts...sorta....some things can be explained...(like the whole "spine tingling" or whatever...a lot of times its subsonic sound) But the probability of all the ghost stories being explained through science is rather slim, so there has to be something "paranormal" happening.

I dont have any experiences though, my only thing is that I have seen a UFO...
smiles.gif

I saw this show on the paranormal once and they investigated this place and somehting about it being cold in some areas and doors slamming shut and opening and everything. For the cold in the random places they checked to see if the pressure changes there due to some random things (and i think pressure changes was what they were gonna explain the door opening and shutting with), but they couldnt find any odd pressure changes. However, the spine tingling effect they blamed on the subway which was nearby making those subsonic sounds which we can feel but not hear.

Yeah...

Ah I have the chills as I'm reading these stories. So this isn't my story it's my b/f Jordan's but I'm going to share it because I think it's a good one.

Jordan's dad has a really big house that has 3 wings and was built around 1910, there is also a small back house. Over the years different members of his family and friends have lived in and rented the different wings and back house.
The back house is the haunted part.
There is a metal cabinet that is built into the place and no matter how securely you close it, you will find it opened. Now a bunch of guys have lived in this little house so imagine guys sitting around drinking beer doing experiments on this cabinet over the years
smiles.gif
They've duct taped it with layers of tape, put chairs in front of it, a sofa, things it took more than one of them to place in front. They've even been sitting there talking about how there is no way the cabinet could come open and heard it pop right open.
For some reason at some point my boyfriend got the feeling that it was the ghost of a young girl and they named her Pabst.
Whenever any females would enter the little house it was like it pissed her off and she would be really active.
Jordan would even talk to her, if the cabinet kept opening and he wasn't in the mood he would be like "Not right now Pabst." and it would stop. Or if he was going out of town he would say when he would be back, things like that.
So anyway it's kind of weird that he assumed the ghost was a young female because they later found out that in a covered well on the property and a 12 year old girl drowned.
The latest is that there is a new girl renting the little house and she asked my b/f's sister "What's wrong with the cabinet? Is this place hanted?"

It's so strange because I have never *seen* anything (that couldn't be explained) but I have felt things-and I'm not sure I do believe in ghosts-I mean it defies logic but at the same time I have felt things and have experienced things that do in fact- defy logic. *shrugs* But I LOVE reading these stories ladies

I know way too many rational people who have seen them, so i'll go with a yes, I believe (though I'm way too skeptical to ever see one myself probably). One of my best friends remembers talking to her dead grandma when she was very little and playing this game with her - when she told her mom, her mom freaked out because that was a game she would play with her mother, and my friend didn't know that at the time.
I had another friend (also very rational and practical) who had a dream about her brother's ex telling her that she could take whatever she wanted from her closet. She woke up, checked her e-mail, and there was one from her brother saying that his ex girlfriend had just commited suicide by jumping off the golden gate bridge. Also, the ex's neighbors kept hearing phones ringing and an answering machine pick up in her empty apartment for awhile after her death.

I don't believe in ghosts for one reason. I figure if I don't believe in them, I won't ever be able to see them and since seeing one would scare the daylights out of me, I am hedging my bets LOL

I probably just cursed myself and am now going to get visited by every ghost in the area.
