Pomp

I've been trying to master a perfect pomp for awhile now. It bugs the heck out of me how cute these are and I can't seem to get it to work. haha. I think it may be that I have bangs that go straight across...but my stylist said that that should make it even easier. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe even a tutorial!?

I think the best thing is strong styling creme or wax. What type of products are you using right now?

well my stylist recommended using a big velcro roller and hairspray then pinning it back after the rollers out...but that didnt work too well. and wax makes me think my hair looks greasy haha

We used to do the pomp all the time in high school (yeah, I'm an '80s child) and we did exactly what your stylist recommended, except we would twist the pomp at the ends where it is going into the rest of your hair and then pin it down with a barette and sort of push the barette forward to get more height. Then we would hairspray the heck out of it. I went through a can of hairspray a week, but I had big high hair. I think if you use the proper type of wax, it won't make your hair greasy. If you have access to Matrix products, they make a molding mud that is matte and would hold in a tornado. It's called dirty trix molding matte clay. Good luck, and post pics if you get a good pomp

Just use some pomade. Wax or styling creme are a bit much for a pomp.

Just rub some pompade onto your palms and run it through your bangs. Comb your bangs straight, twist them 180 degrees, pull them back, push them up a bit, and pin them down. Use some shine serum to tame any frizz and spray some hair spray to hold.

I actually use my flat iron and do it back a couple of times.... and then I pin it with a tiny clip... spread it out how i would like it and then hair spray the shape correctly... holding it until it dries... I take off the clip and then tuck the ends in and pin it with a barrette. Works pretty well for me... but my hair is naturally curly so that maybe why.

So i tried it today...i used pomade, put it in the roller, hairsprayed it and pinned it back after i took the roller out. it looked ok the first minute or two, but pretty much as soon as i walked out of the bathroom, part of my bangs started falling out. so much for that :S

what i do is tease the front section of my hair and get it a little knotted. Then i smooth out the top layer and form it into the pomp. Then lots of flexible hairspray/.

i use got2b glue, that stuff works like a DREAM. your hair will be hard, but it works :p i have short bangs that come out all the time. plus with this stuff, you dont even need rollers or anything. i just put a bunch of it on the part of my hair i want to go back, holding it in the middle, and then scrunch it forward so its tall, and pin it, and voila!
