Pour le Monsieur

It's truly been one hell of a week, y'all. This past Sunday, someone VERY special to me died suddenly. I've been really super busy this week with other stuff, and today I have to go to his funeral where I'm playing the piano, and I'm supposed to sing. I doubt very seriously I'll be able to make it through singing without crying. He was my French teacher in high school, and I'd seen him almost every Sunday for years now. Very very very special man to me. One of the verses I'm singing today will be in French - in his honor. (I hope the translation I found online is alright! If there are any French speakers here, and you have the lyrics for Amazing Grace in French, please PM me!!)

Anyway, I went home at lunch today to get ready for the funeral, and here is my make-up.

I didn't have time for lip liner, unfortunately! I think this would've looked much better if I had.

I'm sorry for you! All my "condoléences". Your makeup is so beautiful!

It's too late, but i don't know the french version what you have, but the french version that I know is this :

"Grâce infinie, ô quel beau don
Pour moi, pécheur, qui crois
J'étais perdu, j'ai le pardon
Aveugle, mais je vois
La grâce a mis la crainte en moi
Et m'en a délivré
Ô grâce précieuse à ma foi
Lorsque j'y ai cédé
Au travers des temps infinis
Les chants de tes élus
Seront toujours ta gloire, ô Christ
Comme au temps où j'ai cru"

So sorry for your loss...
In France most of the time we sing it this way, without other lyrics:

"Gloire à toi, qui étais mort, / Amazing grace
Gloire à toi, Jésus, / How sweet the sound
Gloire à toi, qui es vivant, / That saved a wretch
Gloire à toi / Like me
Gloire à toi, ressuscité, viens revivre en nous / I once was lost, but now I'm found
Aujourd'hui et jusqu'au jour dernier." / Was blind but now I see

Maybe to late, but anyway... Toutes mes sincères condoléances.

Thanks so much, everyone, for the kind comments and well wishes. The service went well; it was a wonderful send-off for the "old bald man."

I managed to make it through my singing without crying, but after I was done and seated behind the piano again, I kinda lost it. Thank goodness for my husband being there with me.

Thanks to Ariankara and Bonbonroz for the translations. The one I found was online, and it's supposedly a Cajun version, so I think he would've really liked that, too! I know he's very proud of me... he always was and always bragged to people about both my French and my music. I will miss him SO much.
