The 99% figure is a bit misleading. This is based on 100 couples within 1 year. Out of the 100 couples, 1 will become pregnant within a year (when using condoms properly).

These odds aren't good enough for a high schooler in my opinion. It would be a good idea to look into a secondary form of birth control/STI prevention.

Also, relying on emergency contraception is not a good idea either. It's good for an emergency, but not to be used regularly. It's not good for the body to shock it with a hyperdose of hormones.
