Prep+Prime SPF50...an unexpected love

I've been using Prep+Prime Skin for a looong time as a makeup primer. I always knew MAC had another face primer with SPF 50 (!!) which I never ever even considered buying. I'm all for protecting my face, but I thought 50 was a little high, and also imagined it would be greasy and leave me shiny like any product with a high SPF usually does. Plus, I kinda overlooked it because I use a daily moisturizer with SPF 20 anyway. It was just never a product that I had any attraction to whatsoever.
So a few weeks ago, I found myself running extremely low on my Prep+Prime Face and was planning on buying a new bottle soon. About a week or so ago, I watched Leesha's (xsparkage) video on youtube about her summer makeup routine. She had some great things to say about the SPF 50 primer and said that while the Prep+Prime Face smoothed your skin and helped your makeup feel like it was applying smoothly, the Prep+Prime SPF50 affected the actual staying power of your makeup. She compared it to "double-stick tape" for makeup.
I was still skeptical because I thought it was going to be heavy. So I went to the counter and bought it, thinking that if it was bad, I would just exchange it for my Prep+Prime Face. I used it and was VERY impressed!

When you apply it, it has the same consistency and scent of the Prep+Prime face, however, it absorbs into your skin more quickly. It feels A LOT lighter and cleaner too. I know that the Prep+Prime Face is supposed to feel "slippery" on your skin because of the silicones, but the SPF 50 one makes your face feel smooth without the slick feeling. My makeup still applied evenly and had the same look as when I applied it over the non-spf primer, but it was almost like my skin was "grabbing" the makeup better. It was still easy to blend though.
I felt that throughout the day, my skin (which gets very oily in the t-zone) needed no touch ups! (I've used it 4 times so far) It also felt very light, which was nice in this ultra hot and humid weather in GA.
Before I used my makeup remover wipes tonight, my makeup look liked it hadn't moved. I'm seriously super impressed with this stuff! I will use it as long as it's available. I will gladly pay the extra $5 for this stuff compared to the non-spf one...worth EVERY penny.

Are there any other Prep+Prime SPF50 lovers here?

Thanks so much for your review on this doll! I have a hard time with my foundation around my chin/nose area staying on. I will have to run out & get it!

I keep hearing lots of great stuff about this, and I'd love to try it but I'm afraid it'll break me out. I'm so acne-prone, and silicones just don't agree with my skin. I liked the original Prep + Prime, but my skin didn't.

BTW, I saw Leesha's video too. That's what sparked my curiosity!

This one is actually less "slippery" than the original...so it may actually contain less silicones. You should give it a try at least! You never know!

I really wanted to try this but heard it was a bit light for WoC skintones. Did you notice if made your skin look any lighter at all...or was it a melted in look? I know we have different tones but we're all sisters in makeup, lol

I do! I used to have problems with my blush rubbing off by the end of the day, but no more! Plus, I love how smooth and silky my skin looks after using it. And the SPF 50 is fantastic! I'd been looking for a higher SPF for my face. I really hope they keep this around!

Yeah, I could see where it would. I think it's best for people with oilier/combination skin types, like me. It has oil absorbing powders in it. It really kept my oil in check. So I could totally see where it would do nothing for drier skin types.

"sisters in makeup" I love that!
I'm NC25, (kinda fair) and on me, it pretty much absorbed just as a light-colored lotion would. Have you tried the Prep+Prime without spf?? I found the spf version looked exactly the same (not rubbed into the skin, but just squirted out of the container) and had similar consistency as the other version. So if that one worked for you, this one probably would too. But I dunno. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it. But to answer your question, I really don't think it actually deposited any color. The product description says its "invisible" too.

I just bought this about a week ago as well!
and I really like it.
I didnt buy it for daytime, which is kind of ironic.
I bought it because Ive heard a lot of people say that it helps your foundation stay on longer, and usually when I go out in the evenings, having drinks with friends, to partys, etc, I find that my foundation was wearing off in the later hours, and I hate that.

So I figured for those nights when I do my makeup at 8 pm and dont come home until 2 in the morning, Id use it.

and its been working really well

Yes i'm a lover of this! I'm on my 2nd tube, the first one lasted for ages with everyday use. I don't go a day without using this. I love it, it leaves only a slight hint of white-ish ness on my NC42 skin, but once the foundation is on, you can't tell at all, leaves skin matte and velvety and prevents shine really well. I used this in Africa for a month where the sun was always shining really intensely and my makeup would always look great!
And it really helps prevent pigmentation and scars from getting worse.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff!
I'm so white that I don't use foundation and my powder is the white setting powder. The P&P SPF 50 is great because I really need all the sun protection I can get, plus I have a skin condition which causes me to produce more oil than normal and this soaks it up and keeps me from getting all shiny during the day. I also feel that it keeps my blush on longer and it seems to show up brighter on my skin.

It's water-based and contains fewer silicones, whereas I am pretty sure the other version has a silicone base. I have the exact same problems with silicone. My skin just doesn't like it. This made my skin itch, which is usually what happens when I am about to break out. I ended up returning it. But, other than that it gets rave reviews. My skin looked so good. It didn't get oily. The primer didn't feel heavy. It absorbed very quickly. It was amazing!

I wear NW43 and it made no difference in how my foundation went on. I really like it. I did notice that when I applied it to my skin it sparkled...like Dazzleglass sparkled...when I looked at my face from the side at a certain angle. I thought that was weird and cool at the same time.

I LOVE it!!! >_< I really wanted to wear a sunscreen that was at least SPF 50 since I spent a lot of time walking around out doors and when I found out that MAC had a product then I had to try it out. I thought it would be greasy and heavy but it is not (on me anyways). I apply it after moisturizing and it soaks into my skin and does not leave me looking gray and sickly. I have not had any break outs or reactions either.

You get quite a bit in the tube and actually I'm still using the first bottle I bought. I wear it every single day rain or shine and am really pleased
