Mods please move if in the wrong place.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica]First swap and I get screwed over... great.

She had fine feedback etc, and she offered Nars Orgasm lipgloss for Studio Fix Powder, said okay etc, I sent it last Wednesday and I haven't heard anything since. Just went on MUA to message her and she's deleted her profile. GREAT.

Seriously, I'm so annoyed right now. I always hear of horror stories etc and was always a bit skeptical about swapping, but I thought f.it, lets try it, and yeah, first time I get screwed over.

So anyway, I need a favour from someone with a swaptawk account, I can't sign up (not enough feedback) to see if she's on there

If you could help me out I'd love you forever.

Has anyone got any advice on what to do? I'm so tempted to stick her address in my sat nav and go down there!!

I can't help you with Swaptalk but I can give you a few more ideas. I believe that PayPal has you wait at least ten business days before you can file a claim ... if you even used PayPal. If you did then file that ASAP ... she will have a certain amount of time to respond to them and if she doesn't then you automatically win.

That said ... they may not be able to recover the funds, but the fact that PayPal says you win does have some legal pull. I say that because swaplifting is theft ... and therefore illegal.

After that, follow all the possible legal channels you can to ensure that one way or another they have consequences for their actions.

Most complaints can be filed online.

Internet Fraud:

Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Home

USPS complaints (because if they claim to use USPS for shipping it is still mail fraud even though they never shipped anything):

http://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/fo...Complaint.aspx

See if their local police dept. has an online form...if not...drop them an email.

Find the Attorney General in their state and file online, or write them mail.

Keep all records until you receive an item or refund. Print out the web pages and emails having anything to do with the transaction.

I hope you get your refund.

I know for first hand experience that sorting it out can take a while ... I am currently dealing with a swaplifter from the Clearance Bin here on Specktra. I have spoken to all the legal agencies about my claim and they have all filed reports ... but since it will go under the category of petty theft it will take a while for things to follow through. They will still get slapped with the charge ... a court date ... a fine or jail time (rare ... but if they are repeat offenders), etc etc etc.

They will also have to pay for court fees, lawyers fees, etc ... yes I realize this sounds harsh and overblown but it will make sure that they never do it to anyone else. The authorities involved in my case have told me that it may take them upwards of several months to sort it all out ... but eventually the swaplifter will definitely feel the hurt from it. Good Luck!

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately it was not on paypal (it was a swap via MUA) so I can't use that, and also I'm in the UK and so is she so I don't know how to go about it with the police. I spoke to my boyfriend and he is gonna speak to his parents and they're both police officers so hopefully I will be able to get some kind of advice from them.
What you're doing is not overblown at all. It is theft and they need to learn their lesson. I feel like such an idiot. Like I said before I was skeptical about swapping, and now I've discovered I should have stayed skeptical and just kept my studio fix lol. I'm not gonna swap again.
Part of me wants to think that I'm wrong, but why on earth would she delete her profile? I dunno...

Was she from Canada or was her name Avila by any chance? We had another thread going on last week b/c some other people and I were screwed over by someone with that name and she was also on MUA and I think she was a seller on Ebay too. On here she had a thread under geminia. My transaction was through Paypal though. I bought a Shooting Star MSF from her and never received it and that has happened to a few other people and I filed a Paypal claim. Doesn't it just suck when people do stuff like that?

I recently got swaplifted, too. It wasn't something that big or expensive, but I was still seriously pissed. I'm pretty sure there is a user agreement saying, basically "swap at your own risk" when you sign up for MUA. :-(

IIRC, you can join swaptawk if you think you have been swaplifted. Follow the instructions given for joining, make sure to specify you are in a problem swap.

Oh man, I hope everything works out. I got rip off from someone on eBay once. I filed a claim through PayPal and I won but the THEIF didn't have any money in their account. I should've gone though my bank but now it's too late.

Well the same thing just happened to me and I don't think I'll ever swap again. I'm a new swapper so I agreed to send my stuff first. I sent mine and got the DC as she requested. I know when she got my stuff but she didn't say anything. THEN I get an email from another account-she claims her original one got deleted on it's own. She goes on to tell me that she can't find one of the brushes that she agreed to swap with me and will I accept something else. What other choice do I have since she's got my stuff right? So I agree, she then tells me she'll send me her end of the swap AFTER the holidays which is like a week after she's gotten my stuff. I go to respond to her and her account is GONE! I'm PISSED! and so totally over swapping.
