Primers_ are they worth it to use?

I"ve always been alittle skeptical about using makeup primers of any sort. Somehow I already feel kinda bad about smothering my poor acne-prone face in foundation and adding a primer just seems like something extra waiting to clog my pores. Yet some ppl say a primer actually PROTECTS your pores so you makeup doesn't sink in. What's your take on this???

I only wear a primer on special occasions. I find they break me out. Even the oil-free ones break me out. I just use sunscreen as a base.

Like the above post said, I only wear foundation primer on special events. My skin breaks out easily & I sure don't need anything else to help that

Me too - my skin doesnt like face primers at all! It breaks out in a heartbeat and I normally have very good skin. I dont bother with it anymore at all and the only primers I wear now are eyeshadow primer and lip primer.

I love primers. I think they're necessary for me at least. They don't break me out but I don't have acne prone skin either. I've only tried Cover FX's primer but I like it a lot.

I use them sometimes. I use Monistat anti-chafing gel, apparently it's identical to the Smashbox primer apart from the price tag. It makes my skin smoother, makes it seem more "flawless".
I sometimes use Lumene Radiance Skin Tone Corrector if I want an extra glow.

I've read that a lot of people use this. Do you put your sunscreen on first and let it absorb and then this and then foundation?

Yeah, I put on my moisturizer/sunscreen first (actually because I'm Scandinavian I don't use sunscreen for the most part of the year... not much use for it during those weeks the sun doesn't even come up, ha ha!), wait 5-10 minutes, and then put on my Monistat and then foundation. I find it works especially well with mineral foundation, because the Monistat makes the MMU look less powdery and dry.

If silicones bother you, you could try the Laura Geller one. It seems to have far less, it has a much lighter texture.
