Problems with MAC eyeshadows!

I normally wear pigments. They are so easy to deal with. Well I recently got Coral, Cobalt and Aquadisiac and I'm having the hardest time applying them. I first thought it was my brush so I changed my brush. I thought it was my base so I changed from UDPP to a paint pot. Nothing seemed to change. My ELF eye shadows seem to go on ALOT better than all three of my MAC shadows. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

TIA!!

Does anyone know what textures Coral and Cobalt are?

Lustres are hard to work with and some mattes but Veluxe Pearl has such a nice texture and finish. It glides on smoothly. You need paints or painpots to help ya out with the shadows, not UDPP alone. But what I gather is that you are probably used to pigments that go on easy because they are highly pigmented and glide on easier. So not much effort is put into it. Where has shadows are more powder and they require more effort.
I use a 239 or equivalent to apply my MAC shadows of any texture or finish with ease OVER a paintpot of choice AND another base like UDPP or TFSI.
I have aquadisiace and I too find it a pain in the butt to work with sometimes but layering it on should do the trick and in this case, use a 242.

I have problems with some colors too. I think its the finishes that just don't work together. I'll put a color on, then another color on top, and the bottom one smears, streaks or the top color will NOT blend with the bottom.. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the base, since its one color into another. I find it incredibly maddening.

Maybe the problem lies with the brush? I got a Beautiful Iris e/s from MAC but all these while I can't get good color payout from it. I tried using a couple of different MAC brushes and also try fingers too. Finally I found a no brand e/s brush from Korea and WOW... the color is really intense & even when apply to my lids now. Maybe can try searching for other e/s brushes.

I used the 239 and a few other no name brushes. I think its my base thats the problem. Today, I used one of the ELF creme duo eye shadows as a base and it went on alot smoother. It was still hard to blend though. Im still going to buy some paint pots tomorrow.

I have Aquadisiac and you have to apply the color like 3 or 4 times to the same area to get it to stay put. Lustres tend to be pretty sheer so it's wise to start out and build it up. You might want to use a brush that applies a more concentrated amount, like the 219.

I can really recommend the e/s base "f.y...eye" by benefit! It is the best base for lustre e/s I think. Then you can also use your 239 brush.

that's interesting that yall say you have issues with Aquadisiac. I put it on and it goes on well. I use a 239, or 252 or...the 222 depending on what im doing and i have not had an issue. HOWEVER i did notice once before watch my friend use it and her base was too light...i always use the color base to the color i put on or something close in the family...like delft, sea me would be good alternatives or even Rollickin.

The 242 makes all my eyeshadows go on better, so I imagine it'd work well for yours too. I don't have the ones you mentioned, but Aquadisiac is a Lustre, and the 242 definitely makes my Lustres more usable (more color pay-off and less glitter fallout).

Coral and Colbalt were 2 of the original "Pro" colors. They just listed them as a Pro textures, but I would go with matte. If you got the Coral from the Salsabelle collection that one is marked as a matte, but I do believe that was a re-promote from the Pro shadows.

That may be your problem, mattes are sometimes hard to work with
