Product stuck in the grooves of the jars?!

I use a lot of "mineral"/cottage industry make-up, which is usually powdered and often comes in small screwtop jars. Recently, I swapped on MUA for a bunch of Archetype and Fyrinnae shades. Most of the shades came in little baggies, which I usually detest, but this time I ended up being more annoyed with those small, clear, screwtop jars...there's a ton of product stuck in the grooves! You know, the grooves that keep the lid on? I mean, a TON of product!

Not only do I feel like it's wasted product, but it makes a MESS! If I so much as move the jars, a bit of product will fall from those grooves and get everywhere, no matter how tight the lid is. It's driving me NUTS!

Is there any way to remove that product, carefully, to get in back in to the jar? Or, if that's not possible, is there an easy way to remove it from the grooves without spilling product everywhere? I've been considering a moistened Q-tip, then using the removed product for swatches, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

Hm...I think I would set the jar on some stiff-ish paper/parchment or whatever, and use an eyeshadow brush to lightly dust the product out of the grooves (kind of like an archaeologist lol!), so that the paper catches the product. Then I'd take the jar off and try to funnel the dropped product back into the jar.

Hopefully when you get it fully cleaned off, you'll be able to tap out the amount you need into the lid without getting any more stuck in the grooves so you won't have to do this again!

I was thinking about doing this with wax paper, but I was afraid it might seem silly, LOL! It'll be tedious, but it's definitely worth a shot.

Alright, I did it. Not as silly as I thought it would be.

I didn't have any wax paper, though.

Thanks, gigiopolis, for affirming my suspicions!
