Prom makeup for unknown eye and face shape

Hello I am newbie in these Specktra forums but I love everyone's gorgeous looks they post on here.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I am in a serious dilema and I need your help! Firstly I'm not really sure about my face shape and how to apply makeup to it. A lot of people call me oval but my cheeks look so chubby when I smile and when I contour under my cheekbones it looks weird.

Secondly my eyes make applying makeup quite difficult because I naturally have high eyebrows, when I'm looking straight ahead my eyes look quite 'sleepy' but I don't have hooded lids and I know for definite that they are wide set.

Basically I need help coming up with a prom look (preferably dramatic eyes and nude lips) which would suit my features and would go with a navy taffeta mermaid style gown. If it helps I'm an NC50 in MAC Studio sculpt foundation (I don't look it in these photos but I am quite yellow lol) Thank you!

To my eye, your face is heart-shaped, not oval, which would explain why you think contouring under the cheekbones looks strange. (Because, for your face shape, it is!) Scroll down for a diagram on how to contour a heart-shaped face... http://www.my-virtual-makeover.com/contouring.html Meanwhile... Your brows are high, but that means you have more lid space to work with, not to mention a visible crease/socket. I think, if I were to do your makeup for prom, I'd do a cat eye in an emerald blue (same colour family as your dress; you could also go with a classic black cat eye if you wanted). The lid I'd keep neutral -- probably a shade that's fairly close to your skin. The cat eye shape itself you can achieve either solely with liner, or you can start with an eyeshadow and enhance it with liner. Then apply some half-lashes to bring it out even more. Cheeks, something kind of rosy and flush (but applied subtly). Lips, yeah, definitely a nude to bring all the attention to your eyes. *nods* Hope it's helpful. :)

Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful you've been! The contour tips are brilliant! About the cat eye look, would it be possible for you to show me an example because I'm not really sure how to do it myself. Once again thank you so much!

I'll link you one of my favourite tutorials featuring a cat eye. It's a Pamela Anderson-inspired look Sam from Pixiwoo did a couple of years ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4j0OFHJ65 (Obviously, you don't have to use the same products she did. ;))

Thank you so much! I attempted a prom look today and it's already 10x better than my other attempts, so thank you so much!
