Prom?

Is MAC a good place to get make up done for Prom, do you think?
Or, would they even do that?
Obviously with the $50 fee or whatever that is.

Because I just love MAC and I don't know where to go.

Okay great! Thank you very much. =]
I don't think that I want to tone it down all that much, so MAC should be good. I don't know how much faith I have in the MA's at the counter near my house, though.! So definitelyyy I will go in early, like you said.

I'd still deciding if I want to go to MAC for my makeup for prom or do it myself.

I have had my MA do my makeup for a number of events. I like to go in early and run some ideas by her first. Then, she does her magic. She works with whatever colors or looks I suggest

It helps to work with a MA you know and trust, and one who is wearing a style of makeup that appeals to you.

Yeah, I'm sure it will turn out just lovely.
I don't really know any of the MA's too well, but still they will do a better job than I could ever do!

Good idea to look at the makeup they are wearing though, for a little idea of how they work kinda.
Thanks. =]

Hon, there are plenty of not-so "crazy" colors at MAC, so don't write them off if you prefer a more subtle look. Just be honest with your MUA and maybe take some pictures of looks you like?

Oh I know that, but other places might not have the crazyness (not exactly the right word, but you know what I'm getting at, I think) that I want kind of. It's not that MAC wouldn't be subtle enough, I was just addressing what that other girl said saying that I would like to stick with MAC, but didn't want to go light with the makeup.

Haha that was kind of all jumbled up
I suck at explaining things

And I think the picture thing is a good idea!

Call to make an appointment, don't go in thinking they'll have time to do your makeup without. They get crazy at the counters at Prom time. Don't forget too that they only make money on what you buy so don't take advantage of their time without making purchases. It's also nice to tip the artist since they are doing a service for you in the same way that a hairdresser or manicurist would do.

I got my makeup done by MAC for my prom last year. I say go for it 100%. It was definately worth it. I think MAC would be your best bet as opposed to another counter because they have such a huge assortment that you can really get the look you want.

Just one piece of advice. Know exactly what kind of look you are going for, and explain that exactly to your artist. Me and about 5 other girls from my school got our makeup done at MAC and my friend Kelly absolutely hated it, because she was expecting something else but she didnt really explain what she wanted. My other friends and myself however explained thouroughly exactly what we wanted from subtle, to smokey to all out glam. Pictures are always good too.

good luck

If you know 100% what you want, (ie. know colours, shapes, magazine pics.. favourite ma you've worked with before) it's a great idea. They are absolutely professional and for the most part should be able to execute what you want as long as you talk with them. If you don't know 100% try to talk to an MA for ideas or do a run through beforehand, but remember you will most likely have to pay for the second one.
Keep in mind on the day of your prom/grad.. a LOT of other girls are going to be there as well. The MA's will be busy which can translate either into super exuberance (which is fun and exciting) or annoyance and irritation (which does happen.. and isn't really that great). I for one wasn't really up for the stress to hell day so I chose not to go with MAC for grad. I went with MUFE who were absolutely amazing. They're a lot lower-key than MAC since not EEEEveryone knows them. It was great to go since I had the MA's full attention for over an hour and a half (in fact I had 3 MA's helping me when they got quiet). Since it was so quiet I was able to run a couple of ideas by them and discuss everything I had problems with.. from colours, to textures to actual products. But either way, MAC or someone else... it's a great experience.
