Putting Concealer on Lips?

I did a search for this and didn't find the same question

I've seen and heard of people putting concealer on their lips before their lipstick (in case their lips are pigmented, to help the lipstick show more). Well my only question is: my concealer is very orange. NC42...I guess it goes with my skin but I don't know if it'll work the same. I know it sounds like a really dumb question. But will the fact that its very orange make a difference in the lipcolor?

Are there any tips on applying the concealer? Or just dab it on there, and then follow up with my lipstick? If I have colored lipglosses that don't show up well because of my lip's pigmentation, will this work for wearing the glosses alone, too? Or will the gloss just wipe the concealer off?

Thanks guys

Try Mac Pro Lip Eraser: it's a wonderful, flesh-tinted balm that erases your lip colour. Two shades: Pale and Dim.

Either use a lipstick base (L'oreal and some other companies make one) or a pale lipliner and color in the whole lip. Concealor tends to mix with lipstick and changes the color.

I use Lip Plump by Benefit makes lips skin toned and matte without actually "plumping", makes them skin toned and smoothed.
It's sold at Benefit counters and here.

I've tried concealer, and it just makes my lips look flakey and dry, and even though it does bring out the true color of lipsticks/gloss, I get this weird pale line around my lips (it looks as awful as the dark lipline/pale gloss look IMO) so I wipe it off before I can leave my house.

I think I read the MAC Lip Erase is $14.50.

ETA: Shipping from MACpro is also $7, if I recall correctly.

I use Benefit's Some Kind-a Gorgeous, just put a little on my finger and rub a thin layer on my lips, it helps the lip gloss or lipstick to be truer to its color. I think it's like $26 but I got a small one as a GWP so hopefully you can get one like that somehow.

I found that if you take an illuminating concealer--the pen/brush ones are best (they have a lighter consistency than cream concealers so you don't feel like you are putting tons of stuff on) and you take the brush and lightly go around your lipline and SLIGHTLY blend in (you don't want to ingest this stuff, just take away some pigmentation from the darker edges of the lips) it works wonders. Just use a lip balm or Prep&Prime lip as primer first. I am using Estee Lauder Ideal Light illuminating concealer and LOVE it (it's just like YSL and Guerlain but cheaper). Then take some Studio Fix powder and pat it OVER the concealer and slightly over the lips. This will prep your lips for lipliner and then lipstick. Plus the Studio Fix powder will add additional coverage while helping your lipstick/liner/gloss last and last.

I thought my freestanding non-pro store had Lip Erase... but maybe I'm mistaken.

I remember trying this when I was in search of the perfect nude lip. I used it a couple of times and then tossed it. It was just too chalky. I think it may be too severe for darker complexions (I'm in the NW40/NC45 area).
