Question About Exchanges at MAC?

So I need to exchange something I bought at MAC, but the counter I bought it from is not at all convenient to me, I just happened to be in that area doing other things when I bought it. I would rather go to a more convenient counter or store (there are a few) to exchange the product. Is it okay to return/exchange at a different location? Or do I need to go to the location that I bought it at?

mac store purchases can only be returned to a mac store. macy's mac purchases can only be returned to a macy's with a mac counter (not all macy's have mac), and nordies mac purchases can only be returned to nordies.
