Question about pigment batch numbers

So this is what I think I understand from reading some others posts: any particular MAC pigment can have one of several batch numbers (except maybe the LE ones)? Is that right? Thanks!

Yes.

Wow, just checked my collections and I have a few pigments that are so old that they don't have batch numbers (no ebay, all from Pro stores and some are pre-2000).

I remember reading somewhere on the forums about how to tell which batch number, month and year but I forget how? Does anyone know or remember seeing the post?
Thanks

The first letter is the run, the middle number is the month of manufacture and the last number is the year of manufacture.

IE. A15 means that it was made in the A run in January 2005

With an exception...

I just bought my first pigment (YEA!) in Vanilla. The batch number on the bottom doesn't follow the conventional method. Instead of a number for the second digit, reflecting the month of manufacture, it shows a letter. My code is BA5. I assumed that it's April or August. (I bought it directly from the MAC website.)

Since there are 12 months - here are the numbers/letters that correspond:
Jan 1
Feb 2
Mar 3
Apr 4
May 5
June 6
July 7
Aug 8
Sept 9
Oct A
Nov B
Dec C

So your vanilla pigment BA5 means Batch B from October 2005.

i just picked up a bunch of pigments from the pro store in las vegas at the begining of the month, most are from 2006, but deep blue green batch number is AB3, so 2003
