Questions about Face & Body Foundation

I went to purchase a new foundation and try MACs, and picked Face & Body. She matched me as a C4, but after wearing it for a bit I decided it was a tad too light, esp since I plan on darkening my tan soon. I called the store and they were out of C5, but the lady suggested I 'build up' the foundation to a C5, and pretty much left me with that but without any real explanation on how to do it. Did she mean mix it with a darker shade of the foundation to get that color? I could do that, but I don't want to have to spend another 30 bucks and end up with 8 oz of foundation. Anyone know what she was talking about?

Also, what's the best brush to apply this with in your opinion? Maybe a sponge? I found that this foundation is thinner, dries kinda fast and is tackier than I'm used to, so I'm trying to adjust. I'm currently using Sephora's foundation brush.

one more thing, anyone know whats in this that makes the skin kinda itch? I normally don't have sensitive skin...

I have Face and Body and because of the texture, I find it easy to build up - in the sense that I'll put it on, and will go back touch up with layers in the parts of my face that need it. However, the great thing about F&B is that as it has silicone in it, if you blast it with a little heat it will thicken up and darken slightly. You can do this either by putting a little in your hand and scooshing it with your hairdryer; or just using your finger to work it in a circle on your palm - you'll feel it thickening up as you to do. Hope that helps !

Can anyone help me with the colour shades, please?

The NC shades turn on me orange/yellow, the NW shades are too pinkish. I'm looking for a neutral shade, should I look for the C oder N shades? According to the MAC hp N shades are for beige skintones. But I've also read several times that the C shades are neutral

Are the N1/C1 shades lighter oder darker than the NC/NW 15 shades?

I can only comment in relation to my own skin, but my C1 in F&B is lighter than the NW15 I wore in SFF. Which is good because NW15 was too dark for me!
