Questions about Moisturizers??

Hi there everyone. I am 17 years old and I am here to ask a few questions about moisturizer.

Yesterday, after hearing about Cliniques new "Even Better" line that helps clear up freckles, I went to a clinique counter to get matched for my skintone. The woman there asked me what moisturizer I used and I replied none. She flipped out and started practically yelling at me, telling me its absurd that I don't use moisturizer and that my skin is SOOOO dry (something no other MA has told me before). What I want to ask is, was she telling the truth? Or just trying to sell me product? I've never been told, like I said before, that my skin was very very dry. She started using all sorts of products on me telling me that these are what I should be using every night. If she is right, can you please guide my in a direction of what you think would be a good moisturizer for dry skin? Does MAC even make moisturizers?

Thank you so much!

PS - I tried searching for a review on the "Even Better" collection from Clinique and I wasn't able to find any on here, so if someone can find a thread, or give their own review, I'd really appreciate it

To me it sounds like she was just trying to push a sale.

In my opinion, if it's not broke, don't try and fix it. If not using a moisturizer is working for you, then don't use one. My skin was pretty good for a long time, and then I started messing around with different treatments, toners and moisturizers, and it totally screwed me up.
Here's a few makeup alley reviews for the Even Better line:

if you are still young you may not see the need for a moisturizer now. If your skin was 'very dry' then you would sure know it!

I didnt use a moisturizer for many years, until my derm told me its important--and I should at least get a light one. I would highly recommend that you use a moisturizer with spf while you are still young. These are the things older women wish they'd been told.

In my experience with Clinique I have only had a proper impartial viewing once. All the rest always try to force products onto me that I don't need or want and it's always more than what I want to buy. The three step thing doesn't work for me but the liquid soap does so I went on a mission to just buy that and the girl tried her hardest to convince me that Clinique invented the cleanse tone moisturise method and that I'd have terrible skin if I didn't buy all three together so I left it and went home.

If your skin feels fine then it probably is, my cousin has normal skin and has only recently aged 20 started using a moisturiser and as someone said, if your skin was dry, you'd know it was dry. I'd suggest going elsewhere than Clinique as in my opinion, they don't have the best products out there.

Clinique's moisturizers are okay, they aren't that great. I like the MAC ones, they aren't too bad. It doesn't sound like you need one though, it sounds like that SA at Clinique was just a pushy OTT kind of sales person.

See this is why I hate my job sometimes when we have some stupid ass women working for Clinique! In all honesty yes that lady was pushing a sale. Like everyone else said you would know if your skin is dry, it would feel sooo uncomfortably dry and tight everywhere. You could use a moisturizer if you wanted to but make sure its oil-free like in Clinique theres Dramatically Different Gel or Moisture Surge that are oil free. I noticed you wrote about Even Better. What Even Better is a serum (NOT a moisturizer) it's just a treatment that targets dark spots from sun damage, uneven areas of pigmentation in the skin, and acne marks/scars. It will not get rid of freckles. There will be an Even Better moisturizer coming out soon but that doesn't come out till October. I'm sorry your experience with Clinique was a bad one but since your on the younger side just make sure you clean your face well and use SPF and you should be fine. Let me know if you have any other questions and sorry this was so long lol.

They should clone you and put you on all the Clinique counters all over the world. You were super helpful to me when I asked about those eyeshadows

It's just crappy that most of the people working on the counters think that they need to sell so hard and people are taken in by it because in the department stores where I go, Clinique are one of the only ones who state themselves as being about skincare first and then makeup, most is the other way round and so people think Clinique stuff will be better.

yeah when I go to my seminar's and there will be some women there that will totally distort the truth about our product and our instructor has to always set them straight. I'm honest to people I'm not going to promise them something that ain't gonna happen. I mean I do like most of our skincare but I do use other stuff to because my skin looks great when I mix things up a bit lol. Everyone's skin is different and what one person may love other's may hate because it doesn't agree with their skin.
