Recomendations?

Ok, so I have to have the worst skin in the world. I have very oily/acne prone skin. On occasion I get huge red pimples, but I usually break out in blackheads. I mean, blackheads are ALL over my face. I have a very healthy diet, I work out daily. I don't drink any liquids other than water, milk, and on occasion I'll drink fruit juice. I eat very very clean. I also take fish oil. Should I go straight to a Derm or should I try a few products? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have used:
Neutrogena Skin ID
ProActiv
Aloette
Clinique

I'm currently using DermaNew cleanser, Clinique Toner, & Pangea Moisturizer.

(I'm sorry for the long post!)

I hear yaa, blackheads are the worstttttt. I also have large pores that look gross even when they are clean.

I got a facial once and she took out alot of the whiteheads and blackheads (I think she had fun doing it) After that I started using SpectroJel for acne prone skin and St. Ives Apriocot Scrub, and I use Body Shop Tea Tree Oil toner. I have found that this works for me.

I hope something helps you.

Oh and another thing that I found helps me iss neverrrrrr sleeping with make up on.

I was looking into the Tea Tree products from the Body Shop! But I wasn't sure if they were any good... I usually take tea tree oil and mix it with moisturizer so I might try it!

My mom always told me to never sleep with makeup on! I did once and I regretted it!

What is your beauty routine? That might play a key part of it. For example in the mornings I shower, then tone/moisturize (clarins, laura mercier tinted foundation)

in the evenings I also cleanse again to remove the dirt oil and makeup from the day via cleansing oil, this is when I put on my heavier duty moisturizer. If I have a pimple I'll treat with spectrogel morning and evening.

A few times a week I'll use microdermabrasion stuff in the evening, other times a mask.

My skin is very oily, but not sensitive so I can get away with switching up my products frequently.

I love my clarins toner. It's the green stuff, and is alcohol free. It feels and smells wonderful. I tend to switch my moisturizer a lot.

I agree with the above ladies. Never sleep with makeup on. Also, try to keep your hair off of your face at night, either headband or hairpins.

I've had oily skin my entire life, and I'm almost 30. There is no real miracle product, there are some medications that will help by drying out the skin, these are also acne medications I think.

I'm not a fan of any of Clinique's skin care lines. I think the 3 step system is awful

Exfoliation! Either mechanical (scrubs) or chemical (creams/ washes) will help clear away dead skin that clogs pores and stops blackheads. Something with a combination of alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids will help when used on a regular basis. You should start to see significant results within three weeks.

You might want to try out some masks on a weekly or biweekly basis. These often contain white clay (check the ingredients) which sucks oil out of the skin like a vaccuum.

Make sure whatever other products you're using (including make-up) are oil free as well. Oil lurks where you least expect it. Look for products labeled "non-comedogenic", as these won't block pores.

Lastly, clean everything off your skin like your life depended on it.

My skincare routine consists of:

Daily:
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap
Clinique Toner
Murad Skin Perfecting Facial Lotion
Tee Trea Oil
(all twice daily, sometimes three times)

Every other day:
Exfoliation with St Ives Apricot Scrub
DermaNew Microdermabrasion System
Clay Mask

I rarely wear makeup foundation/concealer, but when I do it's always has no oil, and it's non-comedegenic.

I am so careful about my skin care routine! It seems as though it's just my hormones going crazy!

About the alpha/beta hydroxy acid thing, do you know of any products with that combo in them?

Milk is known to break some people out. Try cutting it out of ur diet and see how ur skin reacts. Google info and see what u think. For me personally, I think not drinking it helps my skin stay clear.
