recommendations for good foundation.

i've pretty much been using cheap drug store makeup my whole life. recently, i've thought about investing in a better brand of foundation or coverup, cuz i find drug store foundation comes off too quickly and doesn't have a very flattering finish.

what are some brands or products you would recomend? i'd like to keep the budget under $40, if possible. i would like it to have some SPF and a fairly matte finish.. and i have no acne and my skin is combination, if thats relevant. and i also prefer liquid, no powders.

thanks.

I'm currently using the studio tech foundation by mac, I love it! I don't think its a great idea for any dry areas though, and its not exactlly liquid.

BUT You could try the studio fix fluid from mac which has spf15. You can get samples of foundations from Mac by calling them, I really think you should try before you buy something like foundation.

I spent yeeeeears wasting money on low budget brands only to be disapointed! HTH

I use studio fix but the compact not the liquid, I have combination-oily skin and this leaves my skin very smooth and not shiny , i love it! so i guess the liquid form is great as well.
I think is really good, that you decided to invest in make-up let's say foundation... I think is worthy, because is your skin and you have to take care of it.
I would say, go to your closest MAC and get match, so you can choose the right shade for you.
Also i recommend a good brush for foundation, MAC 190 is $32 , I know is not cheap, but you'll get better results!, I prefer a brush over sponge, unless you want to buy TONS of sponges, because using the same sponge over and over again it's not sanitary at all! and THAT can cause you breakouts.

I use studio fix fluid by MAC and I LOVE IT. I have combination skin as well and find this works great for me. I also use only this and usually do not have to use powder to decrease shine at all. Love it. You should try it out in the store.
