Red lips help?

Hi all,

I'm loving red lips at the moment, but am really pale so am finding it difficult. The only one that seems to look nice on me is Urgent slimshine.......

I tried Cockney from euristocrats, but its way dark on me, very scary!! I would love to find other reds similar to urgent, but don't know where to start, doesn't have to be MAC. Am just really scared of them being too dark like cockney.......

And is there any hope for port red suiting me do you think?

It may be that you're just not used to seeing yourself in red lipstick. I think you're right to ease into it with a sheer formula like the Slimshines.
To go up to the "next level," I strongly recommend MAC's "Ladybug."
It's a strong red, but it's a Lustre formula, and the sheerness makes it very non-threatening. I'm comfortable with even full-on reds, like "Ruby Woo," "Russian Red," "Classic Dame" or "Powerhouse," but even I tend toward "Ladybug" in hot weather, simply because it's such a fun "summertime red."
Have you tried on "Port Red"? It is a true red, but it has quite a bit of shimmer to it, so you might not find it as intimidating as you fear.
If all else fails, you can always try wearing a coat of the colorless lipconditioner under your lipstick to sheer it out.

I just LOVE the way urgent looks on me, it seems to suit me perfectly. I certainly will try out lady bug and port red

Funny enough, Cockney was RIGHT next to lady bug at my counter. I wonder if the red from cool heat is similar to urgent? still it'll be sheer as well right?

Am desperate for more lovely reds!! haha!

"Swelter" is sheer, but on NW15 me, it tends to look more coral, less true red.
Personally, I much prefer "Ladybug."

if youre pale, you need to get a ruby red lipstick. my everdayred lipstick (yes, EVERYDAY....hahaha) is raidiant ruby in a revlon lipstick... i wear it because it has a moisture lipstick in the middle, so it whips out the middle man.

Lady Bug/Cockney are pretty much identical.

I have both of them and on me there is NO difference whatsoever so dont bother with Lady Bug if you didnt like Cockney.

All the reds might be a little scary at first...LOL! Strawbaby isnt a "true" red but it pretty close and its also much tamer than the others I might head to for a red. I'd definitely recommend you try Strawbaby if you get the chance

I'm quite pale, so I'd always been afraid that reds would look trashy on me. A helpful MA suggested Lovey-Dove Slimshine a few months ago, and I absolutely love it.

Yep, I thought lady bug and cockney were very similar as well.

Both identical in fact. Oooh why the hell didn't I get strawbaby when it was out? God, I always do that

I'll wear red lipstick at 9:00 in the morning, to go to the neighborhood pharmacy to get a flu shot!

NARS Gipsy is wonderful for first-time red wearers/red-shy types.

i love classic dame...but it was an le mattene, so i don't know if you'll still be able to find it. i think bright reds look best on pale skintones, russian red is really nice, rockocco is the most amazing red in the history of the world...but again, is le and may be hard to find.

before you buy russian red or ruby woo, you need to test it out in store first.
on pale skin, it clashes and it wayyy to bright, but it depends on your features as well. most of the time it will look trashy, but sometimes itll look classy.
i mix my russian red with others to tame it down, since it's a blue red.

UPDATE

I think I figured out a way to wear Cockney........ I just applied it really lightly instead of going mad like I usually do as I have dry lips

It looked really nice , like a pretty strawberry colour.

Also tried it with instant gold gloss - lovely combo. Thumbs up!!

Thank god I found a way to wear it!!!
