i couldn't find anything on the website, and the counter was wayy to busy today for me to ask. but i was wondering what mac's return policy is on a slightly used item? like something that's only been used once or twice, can you even exchange a used product?

You should try selling it either here, or on the livejournal mac community. If you return it to mac(which I beleive you can anyways) they just throw it away.

As long as you have a receipt they will take it back.
If you bought it from Nordstroms, they will take your return with or without a receipt, no questions.
And yes it will get damaged out.

Will they take a return if you have no reason except you just don't like it? I bought the lingerie quad and I don't want it anymore. =( I feel bad returning stuff without a reason like I'm allergic or something.

It doesn't matter, they'll take it back still...I did that with the pearlizers from ornamentalism, no questions asked

I have a question then...

A relative got me an eyeshadow I already have. But I wasnt supposed to hurt her feelings, and it's a hassle to send it back as she lives 6 hours away. Anyways, there is no receipt or return UPC sticker on it. If I go to a counter (in Dillards, for example), will they take it back/exchange it?

I'll try to sell it otherwise, but I doubt anyone wants such a plain color that's not d/c.

I'm sure they'll at least exchange it or give you a store credit. Most department stores will.

they should take it back. the ma at my counter told me when i went back yesterday that counters are supposed to exchange items with no questions asked, that includes ALL counters

yes but at macy's (for instance) we won't exchange something without a proof of purchase. If there's no box and crl (little sticker), they need the receipt. If no receipt, at least the crl showing it was bought at macy's. For all we know, someone could have stolen a tester and come back and exchange it for a new shadow.

and we can't exchange/return something that was bought at a mac store or nordstroms because out stock is different than theirs even though they're the same product. And the same goes for MAC stores returning our items or nordstroms. The only way to exchange from one place to another is to claim you lost the box and the receipt and beg the manager to exchange it/return it (for store credit) for you. . . although personally I wouldn't do that because in a way it's dishonest. If it has no sticker on it, just take it to a MAC store and exchange it because most likely, that's where they bought it.

Hmmm..I figured they wouldnt want it since there was no proof (although it's still BNIB). And I believe she got it at the Mall of America MAC store, not a counter. The closest thing to me is 3 hours away (dillards) so I guess I'll ask them next time I make it down there. We'll see what happens. If not, oh well. Re-gift time!

Thanks so much for answering.
