returning high end makeup etiquette

i bought some estee lauder that i think i paid too much for...i'm not sure yet, but i'm thinking of returning it. do i return the free gift, too?

Yes, I return the free gift as well.

I would take it with me to return it. Sometimes they want it back, sometimes they say "just keep it" (usually when I want to exchange something...)

I think you do unless you're exchanging it for other stuff. They'd prob want it back since the gift does come with the purchase.
