He is 22 , he is in school to be a mechanical engineer... he's looking to go into the air force as an officer. We like to be outside and hike/rock climb. I know as a gift he is wanting a bicycle seat for out 2 year old , so he doesn't have to put him in the backpack type thing to let him ride with him. we don't have a huge budget but I could swing and okay gift .... I want it to be special.

I found this site that lets you make your own perfume/cologne. Anyway, I got my boyfriend that for his birthday in January. I got to actually pick scents and they mix them together. I even got to design the bottle and name it. It wasn't cheap made either. It was a glass bottle and the name was sketched into the glass. They even let you put images on the bottles. It was fairly cheap. It was $37 shipped and the bottle was huge. I know this might sound like a cheesy gift for a guy, but he actually liked it. It smells SOOO good too. Way better than what he wore before. Lol.

So here are my 5 cents - sometimes an anniversary gift doesnt have to be that big or expensive, just something meaningful for both and what gonna surprise him/her. Especially when you dont have a big budget.
You can get him something he always wanted but never bought himself (eg a video game, sneakers, dvd collection, that child seat you mentioned) just something he always wanted for himself, not something needed in the household.
Also, if you know a little video editing (movie maker makes it the easiest thing ever) you can make him a video with your pics or other meaningful stuff, secretly upload it on youtube (make a fake account if you have friends added on your regular one so no one sees it or tells him

), then in the anniversary day paste it to him saying like "look what a video i found right here".
Then, you can just spend a great day at home, breakfast in bed, bath together, sitting together under the blanket and watching some movies you both like, going to the big walk in the park - do basicy anything that you both enjoy. Sometimes we gret so wrapped in days that we have no time at all for this sweet things.
Consider purrtykitty's idea anbout candelit dinner, thats classic and always feels good

and lol, i love the perfume idea, but if i tried mixing scents on my own, daamn it gonna be an owful smell lol

Maybe you could try to recreate a special time you guys had together in the past four years...whether it be a romantic dinner from your first date or a great hike on "your trail"

Happy Early Anni!

I found this website where you can write books and add pictures and stuff and upload it all and choose a binding and have it all bound and stuff for around $30.00... So I thought about writing out our "Love story" .... which is really sweet ... we meet on the internet in middle school and had major crushes ... but never met in person lost touch .... then at a party in highschool playing spin the bottle ... I was his first kiss .... then we "met" For the first time at summer camp and were inseparable after that .... But I thought I'd put a lot of time and effort into it and do that for five year.... Instead of rushing it .... I'm actually trying to put a cookbook together to give to all my friends that are getting married... so i'm putting a lot of time into that at the moment

I thought most of the love and relationship threads are about the crappy things the guys we love do to us ... might as well start one for when they are being good

If you both like spending time outside, maybe find a nice place to picnic? You could send your kid to the babysitter's or bring him/her along.

I agree with the picnic idea. You could do that then rent a boat or canoe or something. You could bring a bottle and recreate the spin-the-bottle or have a camp-out and get an all-night baby-sitter.

Congrats on 4 years!!

Wow! You guys are nice. For my anniversary I will probably just save my bitching about him throwing his dirty clothes on the couch until the next day. I might even go so far as to put them in the laundry basket myself!!

Just kidding...We are in love...but he does throw his damn clothes on the couch.

How about finding out what his favorite meal from his childhood was and making that for dinner? No one can dupe my man's mama's cooking. She gave me the recipe for his favorite chicken tetrazzini. I made it for his birthday and you would have thought I handed him a plate of gold.
