Is anyone here familiar with the cosmetic counters in Macy’s and/or Nordstrom’s at Oakridge or Valley Fair? If, so what is the work environment like there? I've heard some Macy's people complain about having to push credit card apps.
I’m not sure which counter I would prefer to work at, I know most people on this site prefer MAC, but what would you consider to be the favorite 3 counters to work in these stores?
I have been reviewing past posts and it looks like pay ranges from $12-$25 per hour, is this correct? Is the pay different for freelance make up artists vs. counter sales people?
I have never worked in cosmetics, but did attend cosmetology school (many years ago) and make up was always my favorite part. My career path has not been retail, but is has been sales related, in recruiting (which in itself is sales oriented, selling the position to prospective employees) and in real estate (which is heavy sales). Do you think my background would be a good fit?
I have management and training experience, so I’m not sure if I would be a better fit for a Counter Manager role, or if they would want me to start as a Sales Associate first?
I am now home schooling my daughter and need to find a position where I can start after 2:00pm. I thought this would be a good time to pursue something fun and cosmetics came to mind. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
