saw MAC Couture

I saw MAC Couture at the MAC Store yesterday, honestly I wasn't really impressed. The packaging is very heavy and bulky. The colors are really subtle, not too bright as far as eye shadows. I'm so glad I didn't really like it that means I can save my money for other MAC Collections.

I'm really sad because I thought I saw a glimpse of it at the store too, but I thought it was display only. :[

Am I the only one not excited about this collection? I usually buy MAC for some of the innovative products, broad range of colors and reasonable price point. The price point is one of the key factors too. Unless they have dramatically changed the formulation of these products, I can't see paying so much money for packaging. This is coming from an avid MAC customer.

If I am going to spend over $20 dollars for a lipstick, it's going to be Armani, Guerlain or Chanel. I mean MAC makes nice lipsticks and glosses, but nowhere near the quality of the above mentioned companies. The price of the sheer mystery powder is verging on the cost of a box of Meteorites. There are loads of other high end brands with great finishing powders I could purchase for the same price or less. I just wonder what MAC is thinking with this release.
I was half way interested in the brush, until I saw the handle. Square with little jewels in it, that will be difficult to keep clean and is ergonomically unfriendly. Who designed this? Last time I checked my hand isn't square.
The reason I'm ranting so hard, is that I was really looking forward to this collection, until more details came out about it. I am just so very disappointed.

Yes, the reason the products in this line are more expensive is not only because the packaging is more elaborate but because the quality of the makeup is higher, with new finishes.

I am not really looking forward to this collection either. Although I know that they would be great MAC collector items I am just going to wait until Danse comes out. Then I can get more for my money!

i haven't seen them in person yet but i have seen them on here and i wasn't a bit impressed. when i heard about them i wanted them, after seeing pictures of them i've changed my mind. the lipstick colors look nice though but like many other people have said ... a bit pricey.

I'm interested in the lipsticks because the finish is supposed to have the feel of lustres with more color payoff, but that's something I want to try myself before I buy.

Smmy, I agree about the brush. It looks like something you'd find in a Lego set.

I can't get excited about Couture. It's all way too expensive for what it is. I'd need to see it in person and be blown away before I'd spend a cent on it. That's coming from someone who bought the entire Nocturnelle collection sight unseen.

I agree with you. I thought the packaging was cool but wasn't impressed with the colors at all. I'm saving my $$$ for the Danse collection.

I worked at the PRO store today and I have to say, the Couture line is selling well...the packaging is a little heavy, but it is beautiful in person. The powder compacts, lipsticks (which stain, btw!) and lipglosses are selling really well (I wore Prestigious lipgloss and sold the crap out of it). The case is beautiful enough to use as a clutch (we sold a lot of those today as well).

I was skeptical about Couture...until I saw it in person...

I wasn't even remotely excited for Couture. I went to the MAC store to buy from Jewelescent (which is lovely). But somehow, I fell in love with most of the Couture line! I picked up Red No. 5 lipstick, and I LOVE it, especially with clear lipglass over it. I also grabbed the medium mystery powder, and it is one of my favorite things now! The case is gorgeous, and the product itself is great

I'm not too keen on the prices though...too pricey!

The one thing I hated was the kabuki brush. I thought I'd love it, but it feels really...cheap. Very light and plasticky, in comparison to the other items from this line, that feel very sturdy and solid. Oh well.

So is the Couture collection only in PRO stores or ALL freestanding MAC stores. I think that when I see it in person I will like it. I really am interested in the mystery powder.

I really liked Couture.
The products were of a great quality, I thought.

I would have bought most of it, regardless of the packaging;. The price point doesn't bother me - it's in like with Dior, Chanel, etc...and I don't find it to of inferior quality at all. I thought I was going to be able to pass on the rich metal highlighters based on description, but the swipe across the back of my hand had me hooked. I thought the finish was way better than the famous Guerlain #144, and I was pleased with how evenly it applied.
I'll totally agree about the kabuki brush though - can we say gratuitous?

I'm obsessed with Red No. 5! Although I don't get my discount and can't wear it to work (since I work at a counter), I really think that I'm going to get it. I tried it on at Update & really really wanted to take it home right then.
Everything else is not worth it to me...maybe if I had more money to just throw around I'd like it more though.

Wasn't wowed by it. The packaging is very heavy, the cases will unfortunately leave your fingerprints all over, especially on the l/g and l/s. Plus with the price I will rather try Dior or Chanel, but it's just me.

I agree with giz, everything looked ho-hum to me too, until I tried the lipstick and lipglass on...they are gorgeous.

Me three. Can't wear them to work either... but got two lipsticks even though I *seriously* do not need them... Red No5 and Couture. Then said AIEEE! Enough!! And ran away.
