I have been lurking for a week or so and wanted to join to chat about some of the styles etc.
I used to use alot of makeup as a teen and trained for a while as a hair stylist. I only used store brand products though.
I have two young children now and haven't really bothered much with makeup for a few years, I don't work now and when I did I just slapped on the basics.
This year in january I developed a skin condition called Vitiligo where your body destroys your skin pigment resulting in patches of white skin, as I am white anyhow the patches don't show up much but where the skin is white the hair turns white too. So most of my left eyebrow and all of my left eye lashes are white and the base colour of my lids is different.
I didn't really care too much but after a while people started to stare alot and some days I just want to blend in. None of the hop bought shadows etc that I had were working well and always came out a different shade so I posted a request for advice on a long hair board I am on. I was pointed towards mac products. Sceptically I went to a mac counter at house of fraser and had an assistant work on my eyes and brow. I was so impressed that I bought three brushes a paint, two shadows and a brow powder. When I did my own makeup the day after I was even more impressed and promptly oredered a pigment pot and another shadow from ebay and then ordered four pigment samples yesterday. lol--no more buying till I get my xmas money lol.
So this is me and my as yet very small mac collection (which i am afraid will be growing.) (I have all the designer hair accesories I could want so why not start a new collection?) I am chucking my small stores own cosmetic collection and sticking to mac now-so worth the money. I wont end up with a train case or anything lol I am a sahm and don't go out much so I just need enough stuff to wear day to day as the mood takes.--currently saving for some greens and purples/reds and some brushes and an eyebrow wax pencil.
Problem areas I will be on here mostly for will be eye shadow techniques and foundation advice. Hopefully will head back to an assistant to get the right colours.
Anyway this is such a great place and I have learnt so much already. Not sure I will post a whole heap but anyway this is me and now you know me.
