Heya!

I tried searching the forums for this, but found nothing.

I have tried all bases it seems...
UDPP
Paint
Shadesticks
Paintpots

and my shadow on my eyelids can look scaley!

Usually UDPP works ok, but it still looks unsmooth.

What's the dealio? Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Maybe try using an eye cream at night to get rid of the scaliness? I'd try Aquaphor, I use it on my lips and around my eyes if they are looking scaly. You can get mini tubes at Target/Walmart etc for about $2.

I can't help much but after applying your base (udpp, shadesticks. etc...) try smoothing it out with your fingers or a brush. I sometimes find this usefull if my base isn't smooth.

Maybe a cream eyeshadow would make a better base. They tend to be creamier and lay down a thinner layer.

I recommend an eye cream/serum as part of the nightly routine in general. Eyes never get the moisture love in general, but winters are especially bad. Aquaphor can be a bit greasy, for me. May want to try out a few drugstore lines - see what you like. Then make sure your base, be it primer, shadestick, paint, etc. is BLENDED well.

UDPP did that to my eyelids. I switched to paintpots and its gone away. Try a good eye cream. Hopefully it will smooth things out.

I've had that same problem recently on my inner eyelid area. I'm trying to moisturize that area before bed to help. I've not have this problem before I use UDPP too) until this winter. Of course, this winter has been so dry that I managed to kill a plant that in the past, has gone unwatered for 2 weeks at a time three different occasions while I was on vacation.

I've been using a sample of Clinique moisture-surge and it seems to be helping. =) Good luck.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, and I know it's not necessarily an issue of the skin's texture itself (being too dry). My eyelids are quite smooth when they're bare but can get a bit scaley-looking sometimes. In my experience, it's been because I've been putting my make-up on too thick and the layers basically crack in a million different places when I blink and stuff. I used to put on waaaay too much Paint as a base, and since then, I've reduced the amount to very, VERY little and it still works well and no scaley-ness. I've found that the Shadesticks DO work for me though. Also, the scaley-ness is less noticeable if you use shadows that have less or no shimmer, like MAC's velvet, satin, or matte finishes (but those are no fun, ahah).

I get that scaley-ness with Beige-in shadestick, but not at all with Untitled Paint. I just apply a very, very small amount and blend it really well before applying another eyeshadow on top. With Paints, less is really more.
