Scammed on MUA

It's so depressing! I'm new at MUA so I was fine with people expecting me to send items first during swaps. My very first swap was with a "girl" l_LOVE_MAC. She had good tokens and I thought it was a safe transaction. I sent her 3 pro pan refills that I had just purchased but didn't like, and an SFF NC20. In exchange I was going to get Big T, Bang on Blue, and Fab & Flashy.

It turns out this person was just a scammer who liked to prey on newbies. Apparently there is a really good MUAer named I_LOVE_MAC (I as in i) and the scammer who I unfortunatley was picked on by was l_LOVE_MAC (l as in L).

So basically I'm out around $50 and the C-Shock I had expected to get is no where to be found. Now I have to go and buy it myself and it's not like I can't. It's just so unfair. Sometimes I forget how cruel the world can be. Not a lot, but the small minority of low-lifes really make the good look so small in the presence of bad.

I am not going to swap anymore. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but for now, being scammed has left a nasty taste. I don't want another try.

Sorry to hear that. It's true that there are still a big amount of evil people in this world out for themselves. It sucks when that happens

There was a long thread on swap tawk about her. she is already in alot of trouble with her post office and the local police. apparantly she has scammed over 1000 people. Join swap tawk from mua and they will be able to tell you how to file a police report on her.

So sorry to hear that. I was also swaplifted my first time on MUA. People can be real a**holes. Despite being scammed my first time I kept at it, and decided to give mankind another chance. (LOL) I'm glad I did. I have met some really great people on MUA and have gotten some great stuff. I know its hard, but try again. Good Luck!

im sorry that your first experience swapping had to be a bad one. I would recommend doing smaller swaps if you have to send first so you have less to lose.

sorry that happen to you, i have also been swaplifted on mua by shawnieluvsmac, she stole from ALOT of people and then resurface twice again under diffrent usernames, i know theres another one that has like 5 diffrent usernames that is still active on a few mu sites. i am scared to do anything on mua and just go there for reviews only.. i think you should join swaptawk and if you need any help with how to get started you can pm me..

I'm really sorry you got scammed. It's a bummer to be out personal possessions. I know I've read that there is legal action against this scammer, i know it doesn't get your stuff back but it would be nice to see (hear?) them get jail time. Mail fraud is a federal offense.

I thank my stars everyday Specktra has Dawn (aka Holstrom4) administrating the Clearance Bin (along with the rest of the site). She prevented this user from scamming members here by taking preventative action when she saw a suspicious account(s) registered. She really takes care of the CB forums, couldn't ask for a better person to look over them.

I feel for you I really do. Unfortunately there are discusting people in this world who like to shaft people. All I can say is, I believe in karma.
I personally feel like a sucker, I've been robbed 4 times before, and I've purchsed a lot from these people I thought I could trust. 3 times on MUA and once on here. I've probably lost over $500 because of people never sending their items. Some even claim that its all my fault and I know some people don't trust me even though I'm not the one stealing from others yada yada yada...

Anywayz, Just be a little extra cautious and if you can help it, try not to trade with "newbies" while you're still one yourself. Check out all negs/neutrals and ask for heaps of details on people if you need to. But do check out swaptawk so you can be aware of some of those nastys out there!

Oh and just be cafeful when swapping with internationals... this was my biggest downfall, because they've been international for me, I've been unable to do anything about getting anything back/ filing reports etc

It's very unfortunate when things like that happen to honest members who are kind enough to swap their things and then get that crap in return from some con artist!

I'm sorry to hear what happened to u.

It's precisely of my fear of getting swaplifted that prevents me from swapping at all...

thanks for the support ladies! i'm thanking my lucky stars now because i got my stuff back!!!

apparently the post office of the scheming *beep* knows about her shadiness. since they have gotten so many complaints about this certain person, they have started sending back all items addressed to her. i called up the post office and they told me that the scammer had a po box in some rural area but the post office was holding all her packages. anywho, i got them back and i'm so so so so happy! i believe in karma too and i'm sure she'll be getting a taste of her own medicine when the law comes down on her.

in any case, this experience has taught me a few lessons. of course first not too be too trusting on swap sites. i'm much more wary now and i don't really think i'll be swapping unless i'm 10000000% sure the person is trustworthy. second, i learned to not loose hope. even though hoping wouldn't have gotten anything done, it's better to be positive than just plain ol' negative right?

thanks again ladies. and i hope no one has to suffer at that scammers hands again. (seriously, how desperate and lame do you have to be to steal USED makeup?!?!?!?!)

Yay! You got your stuff back! That is great to hear! Especially on the computer, an "I" and "l" look very similar! You are right though, stealing used makeup is pathetic and desperate times like a billion.

Hope you are well! Enjoy your makeup reunion!

I was swaplifted by Shawnieluvsmac too. And recently about 80 people on MUA were swaplifted by a Singaporean swapper named Sherlyntan, and most of us have filed mail fraud charges on her. It's ridiculous how shady people can be, I mean, why would you wanna cheat someone out of usually USED cosmetics?? The whole ordeal has made me very very cautious about swapping, and now I won't swap internationally anymore.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with a scammer! People like that make honest swappers look bad. Thankfully I've never been swaplifted BUT I have gotten expired stuff for a swap, as in sunscreen, that the girl didn't tell me was expired. So really it was worthless. I wouldn't give up on swapping just make sure you swap with some established MUAers to get your tokens up. 8)
