am i the only one that things its a LOT harder to be neater on other people than on yourself? i'm pretty good (and getting a LOT better

) at putting makeup on myself, but whenever i do makeup for someone else...the application isn't quite as neat and i'm always worried about how long i'm taking and if i'm going to press on their eye too hard and hurt them or make them uncomfortable. does anyone have any tips?

you are definitely not the only one. I tend to stick to more simplistic looks when i apply make up on others, just so that i don't screw up lol

It's a totally different skill set that uses different muscle memory. Quality application and confidence come with lots of practice and time.

(for the record, I've gone the other way - putting make-up on other people is a snap, putting it on myself is like pulling teeth

I also have a harder time applying makeup to other people. It's just so different. You know your face, your features, what you want to accent and what you don't, what colors look good on you. You've see yourself everyday and have had practice applying your makeup. It's a whole different ball game when it's someone else.

I find it's difficult because I'm afraid of hurting them. So I take forever and don't do an amazing job either. Luckily, that's only for stage makeup and on a *very* infrequent basis. But yes, it's much easier on yourself (normally) since you do it all the time. You tend to not know what you're doing quite as well when you're putting the stuff on somebody else...unless you do it all the time to them too.

Application on faces other than you own takes lots of practice. I used to throw free "make-overs" with classmates, friends, mutual friends, & family just to practice my skills. Maybe you should do the same, it'll be a fun learning experience

Like Lara, I am the total opposite...I do a much better job applying makeup to other people that I do on myself. I don't wear much to begin with (except when I'm at work), and I'm not one to do really dramatic makeup on myself anyway, but I can do whatever you want on someone else.

i blend better on myself, but other things come easier on other people...for example, i can always make up my mind on someone else, like, oh you need a little more this, another color...but on myself, i'm always like, "UGH, this isn't working"

I actually prefer applying to others, rather than myself. I have some issues with my own look that I tend to obsess about, but with others I can be very objective. I think it may be a matter of the actual visual I can get by looking directly at another person, instead of looking at myself in a mirror, if that makes sense to anyone. I've actually learned a few things by applying to others that I have used to improve my own look.

I find it hard to do eyes on other people especially because my eye shape is different, girls with deep set eyes are so hard for me to apply makeup.
