setting powder for a girl that hates foundation?

Hello ladies.

Okay girls, here is my deal. I am a minimalist when it comes to make-up. Okay maybe that isn't true - I do wear blush, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick.

That said, I DETEST foundation....liquid, powder, whatever, I am not a fan.

That being said, I want to start taking better care of my skin. So, I have started using a daily moisturizer that contain sunscreen. That is all very well and good, but I have oil skin and this just makes it shinier.

So I did a topic search, and disovered some kind of transluscent powder from MAC (can't remember what it is called...finishing powder, or something? Setting powder? Now I can't remember) and I believe it is only sold at the PRO shops. So I was thinking maybe I could get that or Maybeline makes a "transluscent finishing veil" from their minerals section as well.

Could I put my daily moisterizer and then the usual eye, blush, and lip make-up, and then just sweep the transluscent powder over my whole face? Would that control the shine and give me a more "set" look without being a heavy finish? What do you think?

Thanks dolls

Jane

I hate foundation too. I never wear it. Never. When I'm looking shiny I use Stila Sheer Pressed Powder. It helps big time. I'm sure the Maybelline one would be great to. I so rarely use my powder that I am kinda kicking myself for buying such an expensive one.

Your proposed method sounds just like mine, so it should work perfect.

Although I haven't tried it yet, MAC just released a new Prep+Prime finishing powder this week. It's translucent

I don't use foundation often. MUFE HD Microfinish Powder is my everyday powder. It's the best I've ever tried and it's oil-absorbing.

I love MACs Select Sheer Loose powder. I wear it on my bare face after my moisturizer drys completely with concealer on any trouble spots if I need it. It keeps my face matte all day and it feels light. It's really a must have for me. I cannot stand heavy foundation. You can def just use some sheer powder instead of one. It looks better and more real IMO anyways.

I think you should get Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. Perfect alone or made "dewy" by a spritz of Fix +.

If you want to control your oil without the powder, you can try using an oil-control lotion like the one by MAC

I think the powder you're talking about is the Invisible Setting powder. I don't really have oily skn, so I cant really say how well it works to keep oil at bay. I know you don't like foundation, but maybe you should try the MSF Natural when you go to the store to see whether or not you like it. It's really sheer, doesnt even feel like you have anything on, but it does help even out skintone as well as adding glow to your skin!

from one foundation hater to another, i can't say enough good things about minearl makeup.

if you want to stick to MAC, try the mineralized skinfinish natural...it's really nice...

but if you're feeling more adventurous, try Everyday Minerals (www.everydayminearls.com). they offer 'free' samples - you only have to pay for shipping, and will help you find a good shade for you. i tried BE first, and found out i was allergic...and i'm not the only one...that's when i discovered EDM. and they have several formulas...so just pick which they recommend for your skin type.

also remember, all mineral makeup will give you some more spf, and it's also anti-bacterial...oh yeah...and it never expires, so you won't be throwing away pans/bottles of stuff you never had a chance to use because it's now too old!

I don't know how intricate you are in your makeup, but I would at least recommend a little concealer for any problem areas you might have; it doesn't make sense to go all out with everything else and forget to make a good base for yourself. Perhaps MUFE's Duo Mat Foundation would work for you?

If you're looking for something to help control shine, MAC, Smashbox and MUFE make shine control face products that are like primers/lotions. I would also not being able to go on without MUFE's HD Setting Powder, it's amazing. MAC also makes blot powders, both loose and pressed, as well as blot sheets- but if you decide upon blot sheets, you'd be better off getting the ones from Clean&Clear, which are considerably cheaper.

Thank you all so much! I ended up going with this ^ and I gotta say, I adore it. Gives me a matte look without any heaviness, and I don't know if it is supposed to, but it really does keep the oil at bay throughout my day. I'm a really low maintenance chick and my skin is decent, so this really works for me - I love this website, I love some of the masterpieces I see on you gals, but ain't no way I'm gonna spend more than 4 minutes in the morning on my face. LOL

Thanks again ladies!
