SFF goes orangey on me - wrong shade? Which one to choose?

I've recently started using Studio Fix Fluid, and I love the formula! It's perfect - the only thing is, it tends to look orangey on me. Not good! Why is that? The MAC SA recommended NW20 for me - strange, I always think of myself as having warm undertones with very much pink/red overtones due to sensitive, reactive skin. Cool shades (in clothes, mu etc) definitely doesn't suit me very much.

Should I try another shade? Can I return the foundation just b/c I'm not happy with the shade? Thinking of trying NC20, but would that be even more orange, you think? Maybe go lighter with a NW15 or NC15? The SA is very hard to discuss with, she doesn't accept anything but her own opinions... What to do, help please!

maybe go back when that SA isn't working lol. i read somewhere on this site (can't remember where) that if SFF looks too orangey on you and say you're an NW-something, to try NC-something instead (or vice versa) and then you shouldn't have any problems with weird coloring.

Thanks! I went back and exchanged the shade for a NC20, which is much better but that one is also a bit weird! It tends to be very yellow...Should I mix the two shades or what? Is there anything I can do to de-emphasize the yellowy tinge? I really like the SFF so I'd rather not change the foundation choice...

I think the SFF are in general pretty yellow-ish....! The lighter shades are just whacky orange. Gross.

i recently learned to get more than one MA's opinion on shade selecting. a few weeks ago i was matched hastily to nc40, which i thought looked wayyyy too dark when i got home. and then i went in yesterday and i was matched better to an nc35 instead which looked soo much better.

I had the same problem with SFF. I have very clear skin (Proactiv) so the MA wanted to try TMs and SFF on me for the sheerness. But my undertones, like you, are very red/pink and it made everything turn orange. My MA concluded (after 5 dif shades) that my skin's undertones were showing through the liquid too much. So we switched to Moistureblend, and I just apply it sheerly with a damp foundation brush and it works perfectly! I build it so it's just heavy enough to cancel out the pink tones and keep me from getting orange. No one needs to look like an Oompah-Loompah.
