i know A LOT of people love this, but i dunno, for me it's just not working so well. i do notice a lot more separation, but not much lift and the volume looks about the same to me as without it on.

so to those who have it:

-do you let it dry before you put on mascara, or do you put mascara on while the base is still wet?
-what mascara do you use with it? does waterproof work better?

thanks!

I love this product.. I had to go a few months without it because of monetary reasons and I definitely would never ever go without it again.. My lashes never looked better than with this product.

I apply mascara IMMEDIATELY after I apply the Shiseido MB. I definitely noticed that if you let it dry it makes your lashes dry and the mascara gets clumpy. That's the key I think..

I've used YSL Faux Effet Cils, YSL Everlong, Maybelline Colossal, CoverGirl Lash Blast, Clinique High Impact, and DiorShow with this product. All yielded similar results.. Right now I'm switching between Clinique and YSL (both get about the same results and last for hours).

My biggest advice is a.) apply your mascara liberally and when the Shiseido MB is still very wet. and b.) if you notice that it's drying out, run the tube (make sure the cap is sealed shut) under very hot water for 2-3 minutes (you could let it soak in a bowl if needed). This will loosen up any clumps in the actual product and make it very, very smooth. You could also try adding 2 drops (little drops, and NO MORE) of warm water to the tube every couple of weeks. I do this to extend the life of my mascaras when I don't have the time/money to go out and buy new ones.

Hope that helped! I love this product so much.

I think I might have the some of the same issues as you. I have asian lashes which are stick straight. If I don't use waterproof mascara, then my lashes will straighten out even after I've curled and masacared them. With that being said, this product does wonders for me!!! I wanted to use nonwaterproof since it's easier to use. I curl my lashes then apply this base. I use MAC zoomlash after and so far my lashes stayed curled the entire day along with lengthening. I don't wait for it to dry. I don't think its that plumping but it's great with length. Hope that helps.

i put it on right after the base, too. i've used it with mac mascara x, prestige mascara and maybellinne...i've always gotten pretty good results with it. my biggest rave about it is the staying power it gives your mascara.

^ Staying power...as in no smudging/running? Or just staying ON your lashes.

I know the question sounds redundant but I hope you get what I'm saying lol.

do you guys wiggle the shiseido MB from root to tip like how you would with a regular mascara? or just glide it on? idk but it's really not working for me. maybe i'm expectiing too much? or is it my curler? do u ladies use high end eyelash curlers? b/c so far i've only used a revlon with this..

Hmmm. Today I have one perfectly curled eye and the other not so much. I think it was because I didn't curl one that well before i put the mascara base on. Don't know if it matters except for comfort, but I use the shu uemura (sp?) eyelash curler. It fits my eye and doesn't tug. So make sure you have it really curled before the base. I just swipe but I don't normally wiggle my mascara either. I'm wondering if you apply too much it could weigh down your lashes instead.

i believe by staying power she means no smudging or running. i have oily OILY skin and NO mascara would stay on for the whole day for me... after a few hours, i would ALWAYS have smudging underneath my eyes. Shiseido MB has been an absolute savior. I can now get through the whole day with very minimal smudging at the end of the day. It keeps your curl too... !!

For me...
I use the Shiseido eyelash curler. You've probably heard RAVES about either the Shu Uemura or the Shiseido curler... and although they are a bit expensive, i'd say invest in one of them because its totally worth every penny. Once you try it... you'll instantly notice a difference and i guarantee you'll never look at any other curler.
To curl easier... i heat my curler under the hair dryer. Then i apply Shiseido MB (no wiggles for me... i just swipe) and then wait a bit (15secs?) before applying Shiseido MM Lash Expander mascara (for everyday) or Diorshow (for going out... but i'm looking for another volumising one coz Diorshow isn't working for me .__.").

maybe i am weighing it down by putting too much. is one swipe enough? i put about two or three.

so diorshow doesn't really volumize for you? does it just lengthen and curl? good thing you told me because i'm really trying to decide what mascara to buy next and if diorshow doesn't volumize, then that's off my list.

I definitely think you're using too much. I wiggle it on the base of the lashes then swoop up ONCE and then I apply it vertically on the tiny lashes on the inside of my eyes and the longer ones on the outer part of my eyes. This ensures that every lash gets coated, but I only put one sweep on total.

Oh no sorry i think i was unclear ... Diorshow is a fairly good volumizer but its not working for me because it smudges like CRAAAZY, clumps so much that sometimes my lashes look like spider legs and it does not curl AT ALL. Diorshow was the only mascara i had that gave volume so whenever i wanted volume, i would reach for my Diorshow. But with so many cons.... i really need to find a new one.
Hope that makes more sense :x

i tried the shiseido mb and i hated it... not only did it not do anything, but it also irritated my eyes too! i also have those dreaded stick straight asian lashes and i have tried tons of mascaras!

so far my favorite is sephora's atomic volume mascara! it isn't clumpy and gives my lashes good volume and curl. for drugstore brands, rimmel's glamoureyes works pretty well. i use both with the shu uemura lash curler, and they make me a happy camper! hth! =D

Have to say I love Shiseido lash base. I have very fine, short lashes so it gives me a better defined volume to start, I wouldn't say it lengthens my lashes that much but certainly a little.

I particularly love it with MaxFactor Masterpeice Max or Mac Plushlash.
