I do that most time too...Because if I go in The Pro--I come out Poor!! It is least costly on my wallet for me to shop online than walk thru that Candy Shoppe!

I like shopping online because it stops me over spending, I usually keep to my budget. I do love going to the couter but I need to know exactly what I want or I will spend too much.

I should get over it though, and just go to the store. It is fun to browse the colours and I'm sure I'd get over it quickly. Plus I do buy less at the store because NatalieMT mentioned I have to physically hand the cash over vs. ordering online which is so easy. I'll just throw something in my bag to try it out and sometimes it'll come and I'll hate it - what a waste!

I'm going to have to wait until after the holidays to go though =/ because I know the stores will be insanely busy during this time.

I don't think you should feel guilty. It wasn't so long ago that there wasn't online ordering, and you had to stand in the store and wait (esp. around the holidays) which eats up your time and your day. That's valuable too. I try to be environmentally conscious too, and I hate when people criticize me for ordering online, or not using cloth grocery bags. (I reuse mine, for cleaning up dog mess, lol)

Especially if you reuse your shipping materials

another reason i prefer not to shop online. it all just goes on the credit card! i'd rather not use my credit card, and you know 50$ here 60$ there, next thing you know theres a 300$ bill! at least with interact it'' tell you you're out of money.

I might have to order BBR online. I thinnk im going to be in florida around then and im asking for Mac gift cards (canadian funds). So i might stop by a MAC store to see the collection and then place an order online. I could use the gift cards in American stores, but with the exchange rate, i'd prob. end up loosing money. booo.

I don't think it's weird at all. You do what makes you comfortable and happy.

I have ordered online before but for items were either sold at the counter or the item was a MAC exclusive so my department store counter didn't care it.

I like to go to the counter to see it the products in person and play with it. What helps is having an MA you can shop with. I also have a friend that we do all our makeup hauls together so it makes it fun and we don't feel the pressure you can get from the MA's.

I think we could all make a effort for the sake of our planet and try to live greener, even if it means making you wait for 10 mins in a mac store and feeling a bit akward. I think we are too used to/dependent onn modern conviences, and we take advantage of them. If you live 8 hours from a Mac store, by all means order! Driving 8 hours would be insane. But if you live 15 mins away, thats a bit ridiculous in my opinion.
I really don't mean to sound bitchy, or come off as rude, so please don;t take it that way. I just feel that we should all take small steps to live greener and help our planet out.
that is all

You are absolutely right, of course and we all do our part, especially here in Toronto where it is the law to recycle, etc.

I'll continue to walk and take the bus ... now if we can convince the rich to stop flying everywhere in their private jets, that would really reduce their carbon footprint.

I am the same way - I believe that if we get enough people to order online, they can cut the number of actual stores that they have, and then hopefully it will lead to a price decrease?

...wishful thinking...

i do the same thing!! And i feel bad, but i take a looong time looking at EVERYTHING and feel like a wierdo spending at least an hour at a time.

10 mins away i have a pro store, and then on the same mall, a Bloomies, Nordies, and Macy's that sell Mac. Plus a CCO about 15 mins away, and 4 other malls within 30 mins either direction with either a free standing store or a Nordies. I guess I'm spoiled living in "the OC"

I totally get what you mean; at first I felt the same way as well. If you don't want to shop online, but still feel sort of awkward at the store, try going at a less busy time and come prepared! I know from the ladies on Specktra that a MA loves it the most when a customer comes in with a list XD. That may not be such a bad idea. If you're worried about being pressured into buying things, have your research done and just go there to ask them for it, pay, and get out quick.

That's what I usually do at MAC, not because I'm really afraid of sales pressure or w/e, but because I usually know exactly what I want before I get it anyway. I find that when I do that, the MAs know that I'm just there to buy what I want and that's all I need, I'm not there to browse and look around...I mean business! Haha jk. But you get what I mean.

I don't find it weird at all. Unfortunately with the terrible lighting at my Macys counter the online swatches turn out to be as good if not better than looking in person! I've also bought something I didn't like after the MA applied it just because I felt bad that she took the time (and seemed to think it looked good on me). So until I can get over feeling bad about such things, and get used to going outside to check swatches on my arm or whatever, and then come back into the store if I want to buy....I will continue to shop online as well!

I shop online mostly because it's much easier of what product that I want to get. When I first went to the MAC store, I felt too nervous to ask what product that I want. I first purchased the Shimmermoss and Vanilla e/s and the Select Sheer Pressed Powder in NC55. I will now bring a list of items that I want at the store from now on.

i like to go to the store/counter, see the makeup i want, and then come home and find a bunch of nifty coupons so that i can get it much cheaper LOL. i'm a OCD-bargain shopper. i REFUSE to pay full price for damn near anything. there's always a cheaper way!!

I pretty much still shop at the stores, but that happens to me all the time! There are certain MAs who are determined to get me into deeper, warmer shades and it looks really nice when I'm wearing it in the store. So I buy it! Then, I get home and realize I'm wearing colours I hate and are not me at all.

I've only ordered from MAC once online. I just didn't want to drive the 12 miles to the nearest store, my one moment of laziness! Plus when I get in a store I go crazy...
smiles.gif

I'm about 3 minutes from the nearest counter, and I hate it. Worse customer service ever... I don't know if it's because I go there and instantly know what I want and they don't like it... or what. Plus they never have what I am after. I'm 10 minutes from the nearest CCO, which I just discovered! And 20 minutes from a full store, where I've always had a good experience. And 1.5 hours by bus from the NYC Pro store... so luckily I have a lot around me so I usually get out to the stores.

Sephora is what I am bad with... one is 3 minutes from me, but I order online more than go into the store. I like all the free samples you get when you order online

But, to my defense, I reuse all the boxes and packing materials when I send packages to others

I only do it on the Pro site, even though it is only a 30 minute drive from here. But it is downtown Toronto, so I have to pay for parking. So I only go there physically if I am already going to Toronto for something. And then I usually wait until I have a big enough order to get free shipping.

I feel really weird for this, but I just don't really enjoy shopping in a MAC store. I hate having to wait until an MA is free (which can sometimes take aaages and ages) and I find them a bit intimidating sometimes. It makes the whole experience kind of awkward! There are many benefits to shopping in a physical store, like being able to see the colours and stuff. Sometimes I'll even go look at the colours and then decide what I want and order online!

I feel a bit guilty having stuff delivered when I'm so close to a store but shopping in a store is just not a great experience for me. Am I a weirdo...does anyone else agree?

Dont feel weird, I do the same thing. I will go to the mac store look around, go home and order it. I feel less pressured that way.

Those people who choose to go green thats great, they should feel good about themself an what there doing,it really is a great thing to do.But you cant force your views and oppinions on going green down peoples throats.Your not going to be encouraging other people to consider going green that way.Its like peta telling everyone there evil if they eat meat.Your not rediculous for ordering online! Thanks to people ordering online theres alot of people with jobs, think about it,the people in charge of each online store, customer service, peoples at the warhouses that store these items, packers, shippers, ups, usps, fed ex,drivers! Im sorry but i dont feel the slightest bit sorry for ordering online ,i do it constantly.More people would consider going green or become more interested in hearing about it if it was approached in a betterway like, here is some information on going green an these are some really simple easy "GREEN LIVING" things you might be interested in doing. As oppose to people having a go at you for not be 100% green, saying things like ,you use regular lightbulbs, you drive not walk!,you shower for longer then 10 minutes OMG your ridiculous then that holier than though attitude an speal of how its not right everyone needs to do there part and how your doing this wrong an that wrong blah blah blah Theres a better way to introduce an encourage people to live green, without acting like you do everything perfect always and there horrible for not being green as you ,do you know what i mean?Sorry bit of a rant there lol By the way i meant no offense to anyone

I've never ordered online but I live near the Pro store. To get out of paying for parking, I just make my boyfriend wait in the car on the street while I run in.

I just enjoy shopping in person so much more, esp when I have many f/s stores in close proximity. I usually always have a list in mind of things I must have to make it easier on me and them. Then I play with items I'm unsure of instore.
