does anyone know what kind of legal stuff you have to do to open up an online shop like lush with handmade bath and/or cosmetic products in the united states?

Well, I know you have to follow standard FDA regulations regarding sanitary workspace and such.

I do not think you need to get a special permit (since you don't for cosmetic sales).

I would guess you would need to see what the tax rules are in your area/town/state. Some places only require a tax on customer's who live in that state in which you are selling.

Since it will be online, I think that is about it!

Have you checked ETSY? They probably have information on it seeing as tons of people sell their own bath soaps, fizzes, etc.
