Silly question?

Hi everyone I'm new to this site but I have a question and I can't seem to find any answers. Pardon me if my question is stupid but in order to apply for MAC do you need to know your brushes? I'm a cosmology student and I know more than just basics when it comes to makeup except for the brushes. I would really love to apply for MAC even as a freelancer as I feel I would do great. But I'm nervous about doing so. Any advise would be great!

I would doubt that it's "required" but considering that you want to work or freelance for MAC and MAC artists use brushes (and sell brushes), you should probably learn as much as you can about them. MAC is well known for their brushes after all!

Here are some links to great threads that discuss working and interviewing for MAC, good luck!
